Why do this??? im thinking of this for my truck but trying to understand what a glaze is and how it differs than FI-II?? thanks

DACP will leave some hazing at times. 3M PIII-MG is also a swirl remover and high polish to remove any remainder swirls and it imparts a high gloss.
3M Finesse-It II is a finishing polish as well and is more toward consumer line as it's packaged in a 16oz bottle. It too does a good job in swirl and polishing.
It's a matter of stepping down in polishes to obtain that mirror look.
Another very acceptable way: Megs BS SFP then Megs HP. I used the SFP with a white polish pad, then for the HP, I switch to a finish pad as I want the polish not the pad to work the finish and burnish it to a high gloss. I've also used Menzerna FP this way.
Look at my SC430 in sig below and you'll see what I'm talking about.

3M FI-II part # 05928 falls into the 3M Rubbing compounds and yes, that version of FI-II is much more aggressive.
However, 3M FI-II Finishing Part# 39003 is geared to over-the counter consumer line.

thanks for the reply. if i understand correctly your recommendation is Megs SFP instead of PI-III. makes more sense. FYI im planning on following this by the Klasse twins then S100. first two are for swirl, water spot etching removal. am i on or off base? btw why is PI-III MG called a glaze instead of polish?

As far as I know, they are the same product but in a 16 oz version. If you read the MSDS on both, they have the same ingredients and ratios.

The term Glaze has always been misused in several products. Mostly a glaze contained some type of filler in the polish.
The term or word glaze still holds out in some product lines but are not true glazes and just polish, but people who have been using the products know them by name.
Yes, the SFP works very well and complements DACP. DACP will remove quite a bit if not ALL swirls with the right pad and technique.

also where do you get your pads from.

Did you get a chance to look at the MSDS for the two products yet? They are the same products, but different size bottles.
As to the DACP, I find it to be one of my favorite products as it can be used with a PC, though a rotary is better, whereas 3M PI-III is designed for a rotary, but still works with a PC given enough time.
Use the DACP followed by SFP and #81 Hand Polish, seal with #20 and top with #26.

If I can give you my opinion.
Use the DACP with a Cutting pad like Meguiar's W-7006 (Speed #5 on a PC). Follow this with #82 Swirl Free Polish with a Polishing (Meg's W-8006)(also #5 on PC), #81 Hand Polish or #3 Machine Glaze by hand or Finishing Pad W-9006(speed #3-4). Seal the finish with Meg's #20. After removing the #20, leave the finish over night allowing it to set-up, then apply #26 on top.
