Dacp+pc=???

I have looked for the answer but after awhile all this stuff runs together. How safe is it to use DACP with a PC? Any chance of damaging the paint with it???

i used it with a yellow cutting pad and it removed all the heavy swirls and oxidation in my paint. its pretty safe i would say.

Although, dacp is rated at 6 on the meguiars scale, I found it very user friendly and safe. Most of my experience with dacp has been with a rotary however which breaks it down pretty quickly.

I've used DACP + PC on dozens of cars, with no ill effects. It is possible that this particular combination doesn't fix all of the issues with the paint, and you may need to try DACP + rotary.

While we're on the topic...

Why do some people have the need to follow DACP with a polish and some don't? Why do some experience hazing?

Is there a consensus choice for the follow-up polish? Menzerna FP?

I use DACP when I need to something heavier for swirls, oxidation, etc. I don't have too many problems with light finishes but when it is a dark finish it definately makes the paint clearer to follow up with one more step. I don't think there is any definitive polish that should be used but FPII is a great one.

I love DACP + Polishing pad it's very effective but also safe.

I could see how on a light colored car DACP could become a one-step, but on black I can't imagine not having to follow up with something else. I think if you want a good one-step from Meguiars #80 is a better choice than #83. If you go in expecting to follow #83 with #82 or #9 then you won't be disappointed.

Why: different paint and different people. Some paint is a lot harder/softer than others, and people are very different, both in how they use products and in what satisfies them.

Some people don't break down the DACP enough when using it with the PC, and that leads to more-than-micro marring. Some paints just won't attain a smooth finish with DACP without the heat/friction of a rotary no matter how long you work it.

Light/dark, no real difference depending on how you inspect; unless you're talking about single-stage, it's all clearcoat. It's just that most people can see micromarring on dark colors and only a few of us are bothered by it on light ones.

So far, I don't recall anybody being unhappy with FP as a follow-up. That's more than you can say for the obvious post-DACP product, Meg's #82 (not a flame, just an observation).

Oh, and while I too consider DACP pretty safe, note that last year a well-respected and knowledgeable Autopian cut through the clear on a Benz using PC/DACP/cutting pad. Gotta always be careful.

The only problem I had using DACP was not having the pc set at a high enough speed. I was applying it at 2.5 - 3.0 and not letting the product do its' job correctly. After educating myself here on Autopia, I get excellent results...turn the speed up 4-5 and work a section at a time. It's made all the difference in the results.

Thanks Autopia! :up
