Customer came back wanting $

are you encouraging a $150 refund? that is out of the question in my opinion. I would say a max of $50 fine...but she was thrilled with it until she tried this over the counter infomercial stuff.

joe

No way! If you go back and read my posts, you'll see that I recommended two options. 1) Buy the bottle of carpet cleaner from the guy. or 2) Tell him that you'll give him $20 back if the Yanks take 2 out of 3 from the Sox this weekend.

If he pushes you for more than $20, tell him to eat a rod.

that something is either

A) a small amount of cash back...$25 or so

B) A free winter prep style job to seal it for winter.

thats what I had in mind..

joe

A) $25 is too much. I would say $20 max.

B) If you go within 10 feet of this guy's car ever again, then you have a freakin' screw loose.

A) Yeah...but for $5...$25 sounds better to the brain...than "$20 bucks." make sense?

B) I never claimed to be normal..but that is something I just wont do.

I am not sure but I would not touch any of this guy's car. The "free" prep for the winter is a point here. He can come back and say it was not good you should have done this etc. etc... Tell him you showed him the car the stain that it was still there. Tell him that it is wonderful that he was able to take it off. but since it has been like 4 months there is not real retribution that you need to make. But since you are "buddies" you will be willing to pay a max of $5 towards the cleaner he used. Make it sound you are doing him a favor since the detailing job does not come with a warranty. It was based on the way you delivered the car. If he had a problem he should have brought it up then.

Be polite and make sure that there is no other refund or restitution you are willing to make.

cheers

Nick

No refund, you did perform the agreed work, showed them the stains, they OK'd it, and the transaction was finalized. Don't let yourself get abused like that by anyone...

i thinking of this....

1 hour of labor which when figured out cam to about $11 an hour...:( and the cost of the bottle they used...so like $15.

worked for 4 hours friday night, and from 7am to about 5ish the next so a total of 14 hours of work.

...........there were about 4 stains in the back floor mats that I just couldnt get out and talked to them about. Well they used this thing call Spot shot and some rags and it all came out.

has anyone ever heard of this stuff? .............
Yeah, I try to keep a can of both that and Folex around, both are real good.

Whatever you decide to do, and I hope it isn't much, I wouldn't consider touching a car for either of them again.

interesting..I have never heard of the stuff. I will have to go check it out and give it a shot!

I dont know what I am going to do.

i did a Jeep Liberty that stunk of smoke. I got out as much as I could. It went away, but would come back. Come to find out, it was the a/c vents. It was deep down in there. My client found something that worked to clear it up. She didnt ask me to give her $ back because she figured out it was the a/c.

It's a floor mat! That's it, a freaking floor mat! She could just as well have found one from someone who didn't want theirs anymore.

I still say you cover just the product. You put in a lot of time and didnt really charge much to do the inside and out. Never touch their cars again either! You might get bad mouthed by that guy, but in your defense, they waited 4 months to complain.

the general consensus from people i have asked is this.....

1)Tell this guy and his fiance to go pound sand and that what they got for the price was way above what they should of and you did it as a favor and at this moment have charged bare minimum per hour because they *were* friends.

2) Tell him you are happy the stains came out and that you need to buy some product like that

3) Never touch their cars again

4) They have no clue what goes into a detail...and therefore will never be happy.

lol

I definitely would not give them any money back or offer a "winter prep." Four months is way too long for them to get that stain out and then confront you about it. If they said something about it a week after you did the car, then maybe it would be a different story.

I use Spot Shot all the time on spots. cleanse everything up really nice and leaves a nice citrus smell. i never use it on the whole carpet though

I just read your convo and I've changed my mind, I wouldn't offer any refund. You tried to remove the stains, she managed to 4 months later and that's awesome for her but it has nothing to do with you.

Your call on what to do if anything?

His fiancé must be a real peach :argue and this guy is going to marry her.

Just smile a lot because his life is gonna be in the pooper - soon! :rofl

FRIENDS AND BUSINESS dont mix, I know myself. Built a pc and 6 months later broke down.... nevertheless it had clumps of dust in there, plain disgusting. Wanting me to fix and pay for the repair, not my friends anymore. I have to agree with Less and others do not hang out with them, I know it sucks but I am sure it wont be the first time this will happen to you pr me or anybody else

4 months? Wow...can't believe you didn't just laugh at this "friend" and walk in the other direction.

She probably bought a new set of floor mats and she's looking to have you share the cost.
