Curious about rayon glass polishing pads ?

Specifically,
Carpro
Griot`s
Lake country
I will be using one or all to redo my windshield, try to give it a proper polish.
Have never used Rayon on the glass only foam, Carpro micro pad shredded.
It`s in good clean condition now, but it could be better.
Plus what I find that works for me, I can use on the rest of the windows.
Opinions of all kinds would be very helpful, Thanks :USA

glass is a very hard substance and difficult to polish properly. most glass polishes out there really just do a good job of cleaning unless they contain cerium oxide and the only polish I know that does is CarPro CeriGlass. foam pads don`t seem to work as well on glass for polishing (but ok for just cleaning), so stick with the glass specific rayon or microfiber types. I use the griot`s glass pads and they are decent. definitely stick with CarPro Ceriglass. I am always amazed at the results when I polish my glass.

If I could ask u about the Ceriglass ? I`ve heard it`s difficult and messy. ?

I did a few write ups on AGO with Ceri-Glass, the rayon pads, and a GG6. This combo can correct medium glass defects - you do not need a rotary.

Yes, it does make a mess. Difficult to do? Not so much. But is is different than polishing paint - and if you don`t do it correctly (mainly dry buff), you can jack up your glass.

CarPro glass pads are the only pads to use. Do not use any other brand. Ask me how I know...

Any Glass polish can be messy if you over apply it which can lead to slinging it everywhere at higher speeds if you`re not careful. Taping off the area helps. Cerium oxide is very necessary if you truly want to "polish" the glass.

Unless you absolutely have to polish your windscreen - my advise would be to avoid glass polishing at all cost. It`s a total PIA. Yes I`ve done it with Ceriglass + Carpro`s on my GG DA. Speaking from experience it`s far more easy to install "pigtail" swirls then remove whatever defects your trying to remove.

I agree with Swanicyouth. The CarPro Rayon pads are the only way to go...if you`re trying to get out scratches and the like. Those, CeriGlass, a 3401 and patience removes moderate scratches on glass for me...every time. It`s a winning combo.
CeriGlass is not too messy...but be prepared for it. Mask off around the glass with tape and newspaper, just in case. Keep the mixture wet, and take your time.

If you just want a deep cleaning, some Glass Science Glass Scrub, or any of the PBMG house brands` glass cleaners/polish are good. They can take out anything except scratches.

Cheers!

Glass polishing is one area I have not explored fully. I bought the CarPro Cariglass polish and glass pads with the intention of trying to repair some minor scratching on a friends windshield. I read some posts about the dangers and the mess and never got around to trying it out. Are there any good videos that show the process step by step where Autopians can use to watch and learn?

Just ordered some LC rayon. Probably some GGs along with CPs later today. The Ceriglass still too scary. Thanks all. Just checking with everybody. Worked on some yesterday I have a very good idea how hard. So I`m out hitting some rain to test my work. That some I did with PBs 2 and Grey force pads

I tried the 3" Car Pro rayon pad with ceriglass on low speed on my rotary. I didn`t see much difference but I don`t think I was patient enough the first time. I`m gong to give it another shot with my PE-8 when the rain lets up. Yes,the pad does sling a little at low speed. It looks like it isn`t meant to hold much product so if it is over applied,it won`t hold onto it.

I need to look into this. The previous owner of our Expedition managed to scratch the hell out of the windshield (how does that even happen?) and it`s incredibly annoying, especially at night
