Cup Holder Cleaning

I am detailing this black MB and I started on the interior this afternoon and will finish the exterior tomorrow. Fiesta starts tomorrow here in San Antonio and it is pretty much a holiday for us, banks close, schools close.......all for a parade of boats down the Riverwalk...:nixweiss

Anyway I noticed that the cup holder was disgusting, as was the console itself so I decided to snap off a few pics of how I cleaned it up.

I will have more interior BEFORE and AFTERS tomorrow:xyxthumbs

Here is a picture of the cup holder BEFORE

I cleaned as much as I could but was unable to reach the deep down crud, plus lots of dog hair was underneath there also and stuck in the gears of the auto cupholder so I removed the whole thing:xyxthumbs

It is held in by two little screws.....sorry no picture of that:down

Here is the cup holder sitting on the tailgate of my truck.

I next soaked the cup holder in Deep Down and let it sit a few minutes then rinsed it off with water, dried it all up and then went to work on the console itself.

I put to work an assortment of brushes and mainly foam swabs. If you spray the end of the swab with your cleaner and then jam it into all the nooks and crannies it can remove alot of gunk, but it takes several attempts to get it all clean.

Here is a picture of the cupholder cleaned and re-installed

Last BMW I detailed had cupholders so grotey that after a 30 min soak in EFHI, a nasty brown sludge poured out and I found over 50 cents in change suspended in it. Got em looking like new, though.

Didn't take any pics. Didn't think anyone would care to see nasty cupholders....

The console area was cleaned with Deep Down and a toothpick, well a few toothpicks and then the wood was cleaned with FP and then polished using AIO.

None of the vinyl is dressed with anything as I prefer the natural look. This is the last picture for tonight and hopefully tomorrow I can post the rest of the BEFORE and AFTER interior shots.

LOL, yeah it was a spur of the moment deal on the cup holders...but I though what the heck, it's something different.

I have also seen alot worse than these but since I am doing a full detail on the interior I figured I would take as many pics as possible.

It was the FP that really did a number on the wood. It took several applications but the finished product looks much better, if I do say so myself:D The AIO gives it that nice glossy look.

You can get Deep Down here http://www.topoftheline.com/deepleatvinc.html

Thanks,

Anthony
