Cross Country Clean-up - 2003 Honda Pilot Edition

I did this Honda Pilot on Friday and took the first weekend off I've had in a very long time :).

This family (husband, wife, 2 young children, and a dog) just took a cross country trip (I believe to/from Texas) and the vehicle needed a nice once-over to bring it back to 'new' condition.

Overall condition was not that bad. The vehicle is a 2003 with 34,xxx miles and minor swirling. The interior had some dirty mats, scattered snacks, and some milk in the leather perforation (yum!). Other than that, nothing crazy. My interior finals were:

-Vacuum

-Oxi mix / steam on interior

-Z16 on vinyl, rubber, plastic

-Z10 on leather

-Z12 on wood

-Gliptone Glass Cleaner on glass

-Z6 in jams

The exterior finals were:

-Optimum No Rinse

-Zaino Z18 Clay with Optimum No Rinse as lube

-Valu-Gard New Car Prep (solvent) on entire exterior to remove tree debris (sap, grime)

-Optimum Polish / CK RMG (50/50) via rotary and LC Finessing Pad @ 1200 rpm

-Zaino Z6 wipedown

-Zaino Z2 Pro (ZFX'd) by hand on paint, glass, wheels

-Zaino Z16 on tires/trim x 2

-CD-2 Engine Detailer in wells/undercarriage

Really nice and wet! Tough color to really make look wet too, I detail one just like that about every 6 months-so I normally don't have to work as hard as you did, Sean. ;)

Excellent job on the interior too, it was a bit rough. :)

Looks supurb! Possibly the most wetness I have ever seen on such a rather unexciting color. Nice job on the interior as well. Great work.

Thanks everyone!

I thought the same thing. I reached out for a new combo and it pulled through. I was really happy with the gloss, wetness, and flake pop.

Wow that interior looks great and so does the rest!

I'm not sure if I asked this already, but when you cleaned the wheel wells with the CD-2, do you use a hose to rinse or do you just to a decent rinse with the ONRW solution?

mrecktid: I used TOL's Wheel Cleaner cut 50/50 to clean the wells, once 90%+ dry, I saturated them in CD-2 Engine Detailer.

I normally get a few spots on almost every Honda I do and have to scrub 'em out with my pc afterwards..

Nope, I'm sure of it too.

I did the car in the driveway with a ton of trees overhead. When done polishing, I backed it out into the road to check the paint. I think the finessing pad had a lot to do with this.

I know what you mean on Honda's though...Usually just the black/blue ones, I have problems with hazing.

ah.. could be the pad I use then.. I'm normally using a meg's burgundy pad at 1200 rpm.. I should try my black pad at that speed next time around

DEFINATELY helps. On Honda's, with a polishing pad, I always get some hazing with OCP. The finessing pad makes the difference.
