Critique my business card...

Title says it all, just looking for some input..

I just did a rough design that I want for my new bus. card...

front of bus card is the image attached...

^^when i click on the image, it says it can't open because it contains errors... can someone please help me out here...

i cannot host it anywhere online, because when it's done uploading, it just says the name and doesn't show the photo...

on my computer it works fine... the background photo i'm using is fine when i upload it online, but once i go into illustrator or photoshop, edit the photo, and save... it will not upload for whatever reason... for example.. here's the background pic attached...

also, the file works fine when i send it through email (it downloads and opens on the computer) and also if i upload it to gotprint.com for the proof, it shows up in the preview... any ideas why the errors are there ??

the 2nd link crashed my firefox

the e-owned one??

i'm sorry about that but i have no clue why it would do that...

when i click it, it opens a small popup window called "PDF download" and gives you options how to view it...

it's 2.1MB so is it possible you were running too many programs and it just crashed??

yeah, I think I had too many programs running. I can see it now.

I think it looks nice and simple. I would suggest changing the part about "Chicago, IL" to maybe something like "Serving the Chicago area" or something to that effect. But then again, that might upset the balance you got to your card. Overall I like your card design.

thanks for the help... I think Chicago does look just a bit out of place, but it also keeps it together... maybe just "Chicago" would be better... idk, i'll play around with it

thanks again

Not a bad background. I would not include the BMW badge as it could be read into offering "vehicle specific" details, unless that is your personal vehicle and people can associate it with you. I have my Escalade on my business card, but I have not done any type of advertising on it, I've had customers call me when I'm on the road to see if I could either stop by and quote a friend or ask questions. It was weird at first for example: I was at Target one day and a customer called while I was shopping to see if I could quote his brothers car. I asked where he was and his reply was "parked next to your truck". I asked how he knew it was me, his reply "Looks like the one on the business card". LOL

hey walter, thanks for the reply... pretty good story haha

i have actually thought about it before, but i really like how it looked on paper and on computer... it is in fact my car, but there's nothing in that pic to distinguish it from another BMW E36...

i also think adding another make in the picture on the back of the card would help offset the BMW badge in the front

this leads me to another question... do you guys think it's better to leave my cards as they are now, glossy black back with no writing or anything, or include a photo of a car and list some services, etc...???

i'll obviously have to put my info on the back if i go with grouse's idea and just put the name on the front, but with that i can still keep it looking very clean...

here's an example i just made...

Front

Back

the back will be black black, that's just faded cuz of the PDF for some reason...

Its a nice card alright. I don't think I would have "Car Cleaning Services" though. You are more than a cleaner after all. You have a lot of specialist knowledge there in your head, so wouldn't an expensive car owner call a detailing specialist rather than a car cleaner?

I think its a bit dark as well. My cards used to be black with white text, but I changed to cream with blue text and it looked much nicer. I had cards printed a few years and the lay-out gal thought it would be good to put a Volvo on the card. She nearly put me out of business!! Yours does look nice, but it would also strike me as brand-specific, as Wetwerks says.

Give it a shot though. Hand out the cards, stick them on cars, get them out there and then measure the response you get. Its all about measuring the action and reaction....

Sweepy.
