First up: 1999 Mercury Mystique

Not much of a winner for a color. Champagne is such a boring color to detail. It would be better if the house had good lighting, but ya gotta make due. Anyways, the paint was in poor shape for a 99. Plenty of water etching, swirling, and overall dullness. My final process was:

-Mother's Gold Wash

-Gliptone ProBuff via Rotary @1500 rpm with Meguiar's SoftBuff Polishing Pad

-Meguiar's NXT via Rotary @1000 rpm with LC Polishing Pad

-Armor All in wheel wells and on tires

-Simple Green to clean wheels/wells/tar

-ProBuff on Wheels

Next Up: 1999 Ford Ranger Pick-Up

I did this truck back in October. It is a workhorse, going to construction sites everyday. Anyways, the paint was dirty and pretty swirled. He just wanted a cleaner/polish and sealant, nothing crazy. This color cleaned up a ton better than his wife's car (The Mystique above). My final process was:

-Mother's Gold Wash

-Gliptone ProBuff via Rotary @1500 rpm with Meguiar's SoftBuff Polishing Pad

-Meguiar's NXT via Rotary @1000 rpm with LC Polishing Pad

-Armor All in wheel wells, on tires, bed, and all plastic trim

-Simple Green to clean wheels/wells/tar

-ProBuff on Wheels

Last Up: 2001 PT Cruiser

Just a quick shot while I paid 2.21/gallon at Mobil after my detail. It was at the "Golden Hour" while the sun was setting and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. The paint has:

AIO

SG x 1

S100 x 1

since May.

Enjoy!

Wow awesome transformations GSR. That Ranger really cleaned up nicely. Gas 2.21/gallon is that for premium or regular? If regular I really feel for the people who need premium. Anyway keep up the good work.

Ranger looks awesome, I cant beleive that paint be4, my 98 is just special i guess ;). 2.28? Please, cheapest in SLO was 2.45 for REGULAR!!! BAH, I need a Hybrid!

I have a Hybrid. :D But the little woman won't let me drive it. Why? Cause I "mess up the gas mileage". Apparently its like a Prius owner thing, they drive to get the best mileage possible. So here I sit, putting two tanks of premium in the Lexus every week :(

Great work! Those people must have gotten a special on ugly seatcovers lol

nice job, esp. on the ranger! :bow when i went from the before to the after pictures, i was like neo "whoa!" :D i would never have guessed it had chrome rims.

That little Ranger took me 4 hours.

I thought it would go quick, but when you have to pull out a bunch of different products for the exterior plastic, paint, chrome, etc...it takes up time. It definately came out a whole helluva lot better.

Gas was 2.21 for Regular which is down. I was paying 2.49 at times for premium in my GSR.

Oh yeah, the seat covers are ugly, but they stay very clean. I barely had to touch them.

do u use simple green straight or diluated for the wheels? if so are they safe for all coatings and what is the diluation ration?

quamen:

I use it straight up, but on a wet wheel/tire first. The wetness helps dilute it a bit. It's pretty strong stuff, I don't feel comfortable spraying it on a dry surface. Probably because I have had it stain paint before.

However, it's relatively cheap ($10 per gallon at Sam's Club) and it's biodegradable. Better than using Wheel Acid, IMO.

Nice work, Sean!

Even the fenderwells are nicely dressed! :up The Ranger turned out especially well, but the Mystique has an excellent glow for such a light color.

Oh yeah, gas here is around $1.87 for regular to $2.07 for premium and dropping slowly.

Thanks Scott. I got mangled on this one back in October for not hitting the wheel wells. Since then, I have been doing it and it really completes the look. The Mystique turned out pretty well, but like I said, the color wasn't one to go home about.

Gas here dropped $.06, still over $2.00 though.
