Could a paint product remove CD scratches, like it does on paint?

This may seem a little odd, but I figured it was worth asking!

I guess CDs have a plastic coating on them, and obviously not similar to paint, but would some products work to remove the little scratches that get onto CDs (yes, sometimes I neglect to keep them safe in their case!).

Thanks if anyone can think of something!

I haven't really tried this with CDs but I'm always getting scratched DVDs from blockbuster. I put the DVDs in and it usually freezes at some crucial part of the film. To combat this, I've been putting a thin coat of Meguiars Gold Class wax on and buffing it off and it works incredibly well. Kinda funny.

I've used the Novus plastic polished on CDs with excellent results, and I've even used rubbing compound/polishing compound/ScratchX/Mirror glaze for deep scratches (a relative term). As long as the scratch is radial, it works OK. Some scratches include a slight cracking of the plastic as well; for those there is no hope.
