Costco yellow MF Towels

those don't look like they have any sort of nap (you can't wash them over and over like regular microfiber towels) and for the price, you could get another pack of the yellow detailers preference from costco or get the proforce microfibers from sams club which i would get instead...

I am always looking to replace my non paint duty MF towels, I use the Costco Eurows MF for wheels and going to promote them to interior and window dutybut was wondering if anyone has used these Micro Fiber Wipe Down Towels, Set of 12 - Griot's Garage

I love these yellow Costco towels and I've never noticed them to harm a finish until atleast 2-3 washes. I think I just picked up these for under $10 too. You can't go wrong with these towels.

These dont look like the ones I use on my car. The packaging is different. I bought a package about 4 years ago and again about 2 years ago. I wonder if these new ones are the same

Well, I can't really tell if they cause scratches or not, or if I just did something incorrect with my technique (I'm sure I did). I ONRed my car yesterday, and today there was a veryyyyyy thin layer of dust on the car, just from sitting there in my covered parking spot. So I sprayed the quick detail concentration of ONR and used these microfiber towels to gently wipe it off. I do see some very fine scratches that appear to be from this particular action, but I don't know if it's the spray detailer/grit that caused it or the towels!

Thats why I don't QD a dusty / dirty car

Just do a CD test to see if it will scratch.

Haha, then what the heck is QD for! I can't decide what's worse--QD or California Car Duster on the light dust.

Surely someone has made a QD that can be used without scratching on light dust! (Any suggestions?) Maybe I just need to hose it off next time?

Use Ultima Waterless Wash or Opitum Opti Clean as a QD. Leaves a nice gloss behind and is safer than any QD.

OK, so the MF towels clearly pass the CD test. I pushed real hard on the CD, too! Must be my technique!
Actually, now that I have a new halogen, my once used and washed Costco MF towels seem to leave some light marring on a new dvd. I bet most towels do, if you put a lot of pressure on the towel/DVD and look at them with a halogen light blasting on it.

Just a caution with the CD test.

Make sure after the media passes the CD test that if you end up using it on a vehicle, always check for marring on the vehicle as well. I got burnt with a boars hair brush that passed the CD test and I went to town, later finding marring...doh!

My mistake on my car, but just throwing a caution out there. Obviously the CD/DVD's are not as soft as some clear coats.

Yeah, just don't use those yellow devil's on your paint.

Lots of speculation and leaps of logic in this thread. Can anyone devise a simple experiment to put this debate to rest?

Good advice ... but bull **** advice too .. sorry .. but I have used them for years and new and fresh they won't mar any different than the others I have that are $$ per towel. Maybe the yellow ones you get in your Costco night but the ones I get in Spokane don't.

Good for you, but I still call them lint towels.

My final conclusion on Costco MF towels is they are a good value when you buy them using the coupon. These towels work great for house cleaning but on the car I only use them to clean the wheels. I bought a whole bunch of MF towels from PakShak including the black wheel MF towels but I feel these are to nice to use on wheels.
