costco towal swirl marks

I think many would be surprised to know that at least one top pro on this forum uses these towels and turns out perfect work.

Nope, no lint so far. I really dont see the harm in them at all to be honest. Ive never had a bad experience yet.

Yellow ones work fine for me. I use them to remove polish residue after buffing, or a brand new one for every ONR wash I do (which is rare these days). After they've been used once however, they become designated anything-other-than-paint towels.

I've used them on removing wax on my black WS6 with no marring or any other imperfections?

How hard is GM clearcoat? Ever use them on a single stage black? My paint is pretty soft. I'm picky with my towels.

If it scratched, throw it out. Water isn't going to improve it.

i washed it and didn't scratch the cd only if i look real close at the cd i can see like 1-2 very light scratches barely visible but nothing i think would cause marring

I understand where you're coming from, so am I. Seeing threads like this make me wonder if I really need to be spending 5+ dollars for one MF towel or not. GM clear is pretty tough on my car. However, it does have light light markings on it. No heavy swirling, just some lines going thru it. However this is because it hasn't been polished in over a year and could use some light touch ups.

They are NOT paint safe.

100s of top quality detailers use Costco yellows.

I doubt anyone here could distinguish a car wiped down with Costco yellows from a car wiped town with $5/towel microfibers.

Just don't use new ones on interior mirrors--they do shed lint when new.

Name me one pro detailer here on Autopia that use costco yellow towels exclusively.

Again, I challenge anyone here to identify a car wiped down with Costco MFs from a car wiped down with "premium" MFs. I've tried Cobra MFs and like them a lot for windows, but Costco MFs work just fine on paint. Use some common sense and don't push hard on the edges of the towel when wiping down.

They may work on light colored cars, but try it on black paint.

I have black paint and use costco towels. No additional swirls added. These viking towels you guys speak of, where can they be purchased?

So where did the other swirls come from?

k-mart or kragen have them OR you can get some of these for only $1.50 (on closeout!) each and shipping will only be $5.50...

example...

15 quick detailing towels at $1.50 each = $22.50 + $5.50 shipping = $28!

Without doubt, a low-density, short-length, coarsely-split, microfiber (Costco Yellows and similar discount brands) are not as soft or gentle as densely-packed, long-length, finely-finished, plush, microfiber ... so ... obviously, you will get different results.

Those results will be easy to see on some surfaces/finishes over others, especially over time and/or pressure, these differences will certainly reveal themselves to the naked eye.

I admit to using the Costco Yellows - but as sooooo many have written, they're only regulated to the nastiest/filthiest of tasks, as they do 'lint-off' excessively, and after several washings are ready for the trash-bin. They never touch my paint at any point in detailing steps, as that is only for premium, top-quality microfibers.

That's my two cents ...

Exactly my thoughts. One difference, after several uses with the costco towels, I don't bother washing them, I just toss them in the trash.
