Just got my first EZ Pass. Don't want any Velcro strips on the interior glass.

Anyone have any suggestions for a workaround?

I here there is some suction cup holder. I called EZ Pass but they do not sell them. Where may I get it?

thx

Make one .. go to the glass store and ask them for 2 pieces of 1/8" Lexan about 1/4" bigger on all sides than the pass and then go to the Dollar store and get the suction cups that have the tits that go through holes. On one piece of Lexan drill the holes so the tits go through and hold. On the other piece drill the holes larger so the nob part of the tit has clearance. Clean the Lexan with alcohol and place the pass between the 2 pieces and apply a very tiny bead of silicone sealer to one of the Lexan pieces to bond it to the other. Only apply the silicone to the areas between the suction cup holes.

I've seen two different types of stuff. One is a little sack with two suction cups and a velcro closure, its black. The other is a bracket with two suction cups the ezpass slides into it. Either is about $6, at autostores or car washes.

I almost rear-ended a lady who didn't put her pass up to the windshield in time so she stops and starts waving it around after she had already passed the transponder point. I slam on the brakes, the guy behind me slams on the brakes and the attendant starts yelling for her to move. This was one of those lanes for ez-pass only so you're supposed to keep going.

I leave imine in the glove box and hold it up to the window when going through a toll. Cheapest holder there is

I've got you covered. Go to Radio Shack and buy a visor clip for a radar detector. They come with a simple metal clip and velcro tape. It goes for a whopping $1.99 or so. Tape it to your EZ-Pass. When I need to use mine, I simply clip it onto my passenger visor and fold it down when I approach the toll booth. Once through, I just fold it back. It stays in my console the rest of the time.

I mounted my clip in the upper left corner of the top of the EZ-Pass so the correct side faces the window. It works like a charm.

What a great thread!

I have an EZ Pass too that I just stuck on the windshield of my Explorer. When I got the Lexus I didnt want to do that, plus the spot I used on the Explorer to make it invisible to me to the left of the rearview is taken on the Lexus by the automatic windshield wiper sensor. So I've just been holding it up, but that really negates the usefullness of it. I only use it when travelling to Jersey to visit my fiance's family, so these suction cup holders are perfect.

Thanks guys!

I had thought about painting it black but I was afraid it wouldn't trip the sensor right, what kind of black paint did you use?

I also thought about the exterior tag, but they're ugly too and I have a front license plate frame, wouldnt be able to use it...

Right now, I am using the velcro that came with my I-Pass. The reason is that the shape of the I-Pass does not lend itself to a radar detector bracket.

But with the older design I-Passes, you could grab a bracket and slide it on there with no problem. :D

Do you perchance live in Virginia? I swear, like every 3rd time I get on the Dulles Toll Road, some idiot gets in the Smart-Tag Only lane and doesn't have one. Then they just stop there and panic for a bit and eventually try to back up out of the gate (by which time about 10 cars are lined up behind them and also have to back up). It is unbelievable. If you don't know what a Smart-Tag is, why the hell would you get in the Smart-Tag Only lane?? :wall

Actually Aurora- I'm over in Chantilly, about 10 minutes from Dulles Airport. How about you?

I currently live in Ashburn, about 2 miles from Dulles. Luckily I also work about 2 miles from Dulles... ;) I don't have to get on the Toll Road that often, but without fail on the Rt. 28 entrance there is always some toolbox parking in the Smart-Tag lane...

You're just down the road from me then, I'm actually over in South Riding. I have to take the toll road in every morning to Reston and usually get those people at the Greenway toll plaza....
