Corvette, Tribeca B9, more of the Odyssey, my 626

I'm going to be working on black C5 in the next month, any tips for me? It will have pretty major swirls. Do you think a wool pad on the rotary would be overkill?

Thats the way I do it, but maybe others would know better.

Has anyone else noticed that the wheels on the Odyssey and the 626 look almost the same?

Yeah, I noticed when my brother bought the Odyssey how similar the wheels are. Oh no! I have minivan wheels!

Sean-I really like #38, definitely more durable than spray dressings. Nice matte finish too. I apply it with a dense foam sponge.

Edwin-Considering the lack of polishing and waxing, the paint didn't have swirling near as bad as most 6-year-old vehicles with a similar lack of attention but they took longer to get out! Hopefully he will have more out more often so I can stay on top of it.

ScottWax- Nice to see somebody besides me doing a nice job on a minivan :D

Minivans need love too, I guess. ;) I have a '97 Sienna next week to do. Luckily it is owned by a retired couple so the back stays pretty clean.

Danase-this one broke my Tribeca cherry. ;)

joyriiide1113-I clay as needed. I don't normally mention it unless I trashed a clay bar removing crud from the paint.

zippymbr-I don't know if this is a completely fair comparison because the lighting was a bit different, along with the angle. Plus, the file size is smaller with the Zaino pics.

In person, AJ seems to have more depth and wetness, both have very sharp reflections and gloss, but the lack of stuff close by to show up in the reflections doesn't really show how mirror-like both are. Zaino help up 8-9 months with no QDs and tunnel washes a couple times a month (on average). I'll be keeping tabs on the Odyssey to see how AJ compares durability-wise. Looks, I think AJ wins but appearance is very subjective and like I mentioned already, the different lighting in the pictures isn't the best comparison-but it is all I have.

wow, seeing how your 99 mazda's paint looks as good as the (i am assuming) babied garage queen Corvette in the photos says alot about how skilled you are Scottwax :2thumbs:

Thanks! And yes, the 'Vette is a garage queen, mostly driven on weekends. 2000 with 26,000 or so on the odometer-just over 4000 miles a year. My car is a year older, sits outside 24/7 (for the 20 months I have owned it) and has almost 100,000 miles more on it! However, I have probably more than 35 hours of polishing invested in my 626, the 'Vette has had about 3 hours. ;)

BTW, this is what I started with-rear fender polished, the door untouched. The door is what the whole car looked like. :nervous2:

klnyc-the front bumper has more than its fair share of chips and I have a couple scuffs on the rear bumper. Probably typical of a 7-yeaer-old car.

Steve-I'm almost thinking a rotary, wool pad and compound would be LSP ready the paint is so hard! :LOLOL

I'd probably start with a heavy polish and a foam cutting pad first though.

Lee, Mike, Scott, et al-thanks! :)

So its really that hard eh? I'll have to see. I'm getting kinda nervous about it.

Scott,

What did you use on the wheels (polish aluminum) for polishing?

I've been using Werkstatt's Prime on wheels lately. Seems to work well on both coated and chrome wheels. Seems to stay slick longer than Wheel Wax. Takes much less product too.

Steve-Based on your skills, I don't think you need worry. I am sure you can handle it!
