Corvette NXT day at Meguiar's

There is a distributor in Canada that I have been told will be carrying NXT Tech Wax.

I guess the problem with getting your product into Canada is the language on the label issues?

I'll check again and post the name of the outfit handling NXT in Canada and post here tomorrow.

Well - I've been debating about using the NXT on my C5 that I just recently purchased. It's a 2001 Metallic Navy Blue - gorgeous! I already used Kit Cleaner, and put a coat of Liquid Glass on it. But not getting the "deep wet" look I hoped for. Have heard good things about NXT - but not sure about it lasting. I live in Arizona - so 115 degree heat and harsh UV rays are a concern. Any other recommendations? BTY - I'm joining the DCA here in Phoenix soon. I attached a pic of my Vette and my boyfriend's '72 - who just took 3rd place in his first showing! :D

Hi Deb,

The chemists at Meguiar's make liquid synthetic polymer mold release waxes that can withstand temperatures of up to 600 degrees.

I know they take all geographical locations into consideration when formulating a paint protection product. I love working on Corvettes and have buffed out quite a few.

Check out my most recent Corvette buff here,

Here is another original owner, big block 396 1965 Corvette that I had the pleasure of buffing out and applying NXT Tech Wax too,

(By the way, the owner took this photo)

and here's one I have coming up in the very near future,

Of course your results will always depend upon your initial prep work to the paint.

I may be in the Phoenix area real soon doing some training for some people that take car of over 90 museum quality cars. (They want to learn how to remove scratches from paint and create a show quality finishes, anyone up for an Autopian GTG in Phoenix?).

My advice to you would to be to read as much as you can here on Autopia and other discussion forums and then purchase a couple of different products and let your eyes be the judge.

Like I always say, the secret to a show car shine is to…

Find something you like and use it often

Good luck in your quest!

Mike

Hey Mike...I was wondering if you knew who will be distributing NXT up here in Canada. I talked to a Meguiars rep last week at a car show and he said the Meguiars Canada online shopping would be ready in two weeks, could you verify that? Thanks!

I'm checking with Meguiar's in Canada.

Hello again Mike!

Thanks for the advise for my Vette! One more question - quite a few of the write-ups I have read here on Autopia say that the Meguiars NXT doesn't last long - just a couple weeks. What's your position on that?

Have an awesome day!

Hi C5-Deb,

Well there are so many variable and factors out of anyone's control, that it's really hard to evaluate how long a wax will last.

I have read all of these posts, (or most of them), and how long any wax lasts will always depend on the environment it is subjected to, and other things like what you wash it with.

The best thing to do is to use it yourself, always wash your car with a non-detergent car wash, (use a premium car wash instead, like Gold Class or NXT Car Wash) and then you decide.

I know protection is important, but many people base protection on water beading and some of the best protecting polymers don't bead water very well. So go figure.

One other point, for cars like Corvettes, you'll never see someone go up to an owner and say,

Nice looking protection!

Instead, if you use the right products, they will say,

Wow! nice finish! What wax do you use?

Try it for yourself and make up your own mind!

Mike :D

p.s.

If you don't like it Meguiar's will always give you your money back.
