correct wording: Super Car VS Exotic

I'm talking in general. I see there is a Chevy Cobalt on the lap list that's up there with a pretty low time among Porche's and such. That must be a sports car too.

Heh heh, interesting how different generations have different definitions of this stuff. Hey, "the language evolves" and all that...like how the cars evolve I guess.

Heh heh#2/generational difference#2- when I thought of non-RWD sports cars, I was thinking of stuff like the Saab Sonnet!

When I was a kid though, there were actually a couple of these around....

my parents have a vaca. cabin up in North-central PA, and when I was about 7, there was

some kind of rally on the dirt roads near our place. We saw several of the cars parked at a local motel, and some were old, dirt-encrusted Sonnets. All kinds of strange stuff... old Volvos and probably an early 80's Lancia or something. The dust these things kicked up on the dirt mountain roads was unreal.

Exactly my point. You(and most people) have no actual pre-defined definitions, you pick your favorite cars and call them what you like. There's nothing wrong with that, but saying out loud that a car which is faster than cars which cost 1,2 or 300K sounds uninformed at the least.

Well I'll agree to disagree. I think this link covers the discussion perfectly:Definition of a Sports Car

Ask 100 people what makes a sports car, and you might get that many different answers. Same thing when you ask someone what makes a muscle car. To me, the Camaro originated as a Pony Car. It wasn't built to race with the likes of a Porsche, so I can't see it in the same class as a sports car. Sure, a ZL1 might be wicked fast, and make that specific car in the class of a sports car, but that doesn't make Camaros sports cars. Just like having a blown Ford Focus wagon with special suspension that can run at a track with Ferrari's isn't going to make Focus station wagons sports cars.
