Confused about opticoat 2.0 instructions

Hi,
I am going to opticoat my wifes and boys cars as I find waxing 5 cars is just too much. I will keep on waxing my 2 cars as i enjoy it, but the other 3 need opticoat 2.0.
I have read the instructions and watched the youtube videos and am a bit confused.
There appears to be 2 methods to apply opticoat:
- first is to wait no more than 20 minutes after applying and then very lightly buff off the high spots that havent levelled ( from the written instructions).
- second is to apply to a panel and then always lightly buff within a minute the whole panel if high spots or not (from youtube videos).

There is some discussion on this forum that the second method may be a cause of too thin a coat and the opticoat not lasting very long.

I certainly don't want high spots, but also don't want to wipe off the opticoat.

Any hints ?

My understanding, after talking with the manufacturer, is that you can wipe (lightly) soon after application. The product adheres to the surface almost instantly. I am sure if you scrubbed you could thin the protective layer, but lightly wiping shouldn't make much of a difference.

This

Do a panel at a time esure you cover the entire panel in a cross hatch pattern then you can lightly buff off any high spots. Also note that you don't need to go really light on the amount of product so when you appy the OC make sure you feel no drag with the applicator.
 
More important than wiping down the OC, is to have a squeaky clean surface before applying OC. If you wash before applying OC, be sure that the soap leaves nothing behind, that is gloss enhancers, waxes or polymers.

If you're referring to my video on YouTube for the OC2 application, you have to keep in mind it was over 100 degrees in my shop, so curing was much faster than normal. That was also my first go with the "2.0" version and I was too used to the Pro versions much faster curing time...in hind sight I should redo the video in normal temps and wait the typical time to level off the high spots.

Rather than relying on time I suggest watching the product flash. When about 90% of the panel has flashed off you can go ahead and level off the remaining high spots. In cooler, less humid conditions this can take a while. For example I used OC2 on a family members vehicle this weekend with my shop set at 65 degrees and 55% humidity. I was applying the product to 3-4 panels before going back to level it off the first one, and even then I was blowing air on it to accelerate the flashing.

Thank-you for all of the responses, that really clears it up and gives me more confidence to get the Opticoat 2.0 applied.
I have resprayed a couple of cars over the years and do understand that the quality of the finish is mainly in the prep.
