Comments...PLEASE

I typically spritz the applicator with Platinum QD spray for the first couple of minutes. Like you said, it does allow a nice even and thin application . After the first minute or two the pad has soaked enough product where spritzing is no longer necessary. At least that has been my experience.

Hard to argue with what you experienced first hand. Can't beat that!

I've used UPP on the S8 for years and I avoid water like the plague when using it. I've had some *nasty* water/product spotting when the two got together, so this avoidance is based on negative outcomes that I've actually experienced. Somebody who seems knowledgeable posted about how that simply shouldn't happen, given what's in UPP, but it's happened to me enough times (not just an isolated incident by a long shot) that I can't overlook the issue.

I dampen the applicator with UPP itself or their QD.

I keep using the UPP because, well...I think I might as well use it up and get my money's worth out of it. And I do think it looks nice and I *LOVE* the slickness. But it offers practically zero protection against bird bombs or bugs (etching, bad etching, happens fast too) and it sure doesn't last very long (not even as long as some waxes).
