Coming Soon To A DVD Near You!

Well, if all goes well and it be Gods will I will start shooting an auto detailing video around September 04.

We have a videographer under contract now, scouting for a location, possibly a studio where they do testing of high performance engines, and now writing a script.

We hope to have this done by Christmas:up

Our first shooting session will be on interior detailing, products, tools and their application. We will cover how to clean and treat various stains, both on carpet and fabric, and also leather cleaning and treatment.

The DVD will be an hour long and I am not sure what the retail value will be as of yet.

I am gearing this more towards the enthusiast, weekend warrior types but I am sure pros might find some of it helpful also.

What I am hoping to get feedback on is what topics would you like to see covered?

Thanks,

Anthony

Anthony, There seems to be much interest in using the Cyclo here. It's such a great tool. The size and weight seem to scare people away. Demonstrating proper use and technique would be interesting and very helpful to many. I personally would request your process in glass cleaning and tire and wheel care. I need to speed up and improve in those areas.......Thanks.......Terrry

A day in the life of Anthony as he does a complete detail on a ferrari

:D

:D Thanks Scott, I will have a few nice cars to demo the exterior portion on and some real dogs for the interior portions.

You better be offerin that dvd on here...signed obviously :D

Well I am sure there "might" be a forum special of some sort I don't know if they will be "signed". I feel rather awkward doing this because in my mind I am thinking......."Who the hell am I that someone would want a signed copy?"

Terry and Sullybob,

Yes! The Cyclo will be a big part of the exterior segment and may even work itself into the interior segment to demonstrate its carpet shampooing ability.

I'll make a note to try and keep things on the "fast & effective" track for the pros, like the wheel and tire cleaning.

I am looking for a car with a rear plastic window thathas some scratches in it. I have one in mind and I'll see if they agree to letting me use it.

Thank you to all for your input.

Carpet stain removal and extraction

Great idea and need! This will perhaps be the biggest part of the interior segment. I hope to go over materials and how to identify and then the best procedure on how to remove or lessen the stain.

Thanks,

Anthony

I love the idea!

How about a comparison between a rotary/cyclo/pc - lets say on a hood - kind of like wax tests. so we'd get a better idea about our limits with both the cyclo or the pc.

Also you could show the ""most effective"" combinations on removing different kind of scretches (what pads to use, time spent on the area, pressure, products). I guess anything a newby needs to know. Sell more DVDs that way as well.

here is a thought - contact SPEED or the DISCOVERY channel to do a series if your dvd sells well. I'd watch it.

Good luck with the project!!!

Erm other good ideas would be, having an interactive menu on the dvd, so for example you can choose

- washing. this skips to a chapter just on washing

- Wetsanding. tutorial on sanding

basically so if someone is interested in seeing the sanding part they don't have to go thru an hour of detailin on the dvd, know wot i mean?

Another good thing to put in would be on the proper maintenance of detailing products, such as how to clean and dry your MF's and brushes etc.

You might wanna tackle issues that people are usually scared of doing or ignore, such as roof liners, treating all moldings, wheel arches, engine, door jambs etc.

I personally wouldn't mind having a signed copy if you make it, nice touch for those who want it i think.

I would like to see the following:

Treating cigarette burns on leather/ velour seats, and carpet

Engine cleaning/ dressing techniques

Hey guys, thanks for the responses and great feedback:xyxthumbs

I will try to reply to as many as possible here, I am taking a break right now from detailing a black Jag and though I would tune in and see what's happinin here.

tedekany,

That's a good idea about the comparison of buffers. We can demonstrate the strong and weak points of each one. We will discuss your various paint problems like sap, fall out, water spots, swirls, scratches etc. I may not have time to go into each one in-depth but I should be able to get to the removing of scratches and swirls. Those two seem to be the biggest concern.

This is also geared mainly to the "I just got a car, how do I care for it?" crowd but I will through in some stuff to keeps the veterans attention also;)

Spoiledman.....

Babes and bikini's? I'll see what I can do:rolleyes:

luke,

The guy doing the video sent me a few dvd's to view and he had interactive menus on them and you just reminded me to talk with him about that:cool:

It would be cool to include a "blooper" section also....then you guys can see me when I drop the buffer on the hood of a Ferrari:shocked

Thanks again so much for the feedback......now I have to get back to work!!!

Anthony,

I will definitely purchase this one. Shoot in hidef if you can.

We may soon be watching BluRay or HD-DVD. :)

I would be very interested in seeing you work on the exterior as well....

Anthony, don't forget swirl removal and marring correction. Great idea. I look forward to purchasing my copy.

Another thing that i think would be cool (for the interior at least) is show how to fix some vynal snags and little tears. I know in my car, all over the dash it looks like somebodys cat did a dance on it with little snags and tears in it. If you could show us how to fix that, that would be a livesaver on Lots of interiors. Sounds really cool though

Heck, with all this response, you might want to consider doing a series...

SilverLexus,

I am not sure in what format the guy will shoot but from his demo stuff he sent me it looks very nice. If the weather is nice we will try and shoot in an outdoor location, if not then we will be in a studio.

I am not sure how we will do the exterior portion but I know I will include a great portion of the Hi-Temp line (Irene from Top of the Line is producing this) cleaners, polishes and dressings and from Menzerna Powergloss, IP and FP and maybe cover some FMJ application.

Hey, I look forward to getting a copy myself! Dealing with swirls will be perhaps the biggest section on the exterior portion of the DVD. I only hope I am not too nervous (I hate being on camera) and look like an idiot:nixweiss

I will be sure to keep you all updated on where we are and when we get close to printing.
