Collinite?

I agree, I don't think the Collinite line is finicky about what it is applied over. I was only suggesting the surface be pre-cleaned with something. Since my Klasse AIO is gone, I've been using Jeff's WS Prime and that seems fine.
 
i just gave collinite a try today! I washed, clayed, polished, and 50/50 water/alcohol the car... laid on 2 layers of collinite and might put on a 3rd tomorrow. all i can say is that collinite 845 is extemely easy to apply, much easier than zaino (what i used before). but it doesn't seem to feel as slick as zaino z2, but you can definitely tell its there! just a few dabs gets the whole car done! now i just need to see how long this lasts!



another quick question, what is a good quick detailer spray to go with collinite? and what would be a good car wash?

I've been using this stuff over 915 with good luck. It seems like it has a lot of carnauba in it.

On 845 I like either FK425 (my usual QD for sealants), which oughta improve the slickness, if only temporarily or Griot's SpeedShine (my usual QD for waxes).



While I do intend to try Optimum shampoo (their regular shampoo, not ONR), I have been using Griot's Car Wash exclusively for years. It cleans very well (and very safely, great lubrication and encapsulation) and does not strip the Collinite even over the course of many washes.
 
I *just* finished washing my DenaliXL, it has 476S and 845 on it (last coats applied a loooong time ago too). Thinking of this thread, this time I used FK425 while drying and it turned out *SLICK*. No, not UPP-slick, but the FK425 does really ramp it up in that regard.
 
Revisited D151 today on a small section of my 'bee's roof. I asked MOL what kind of LSP was in 151, and they said it's both carnauba and sealant. I just couldn't resist putting IW over the 151, since IW is also a "hybrid". I've always liked the look of IW anyway, but over the top of 151, well... let's just say it looks gooooooooood. :)



Now if the sun will come out long enough tomorrow to see if I truly finished the 151 down hologram free.



The only pseudo holograms I've gotten from Collinite were from 476. Has anyone gotten them from IW? I'd like to know in case I *do* see some 'grams tomorrow.



Edit: all this talk about LSP's having both wax and synthetics in them has me wondering now about 10000P. It's just kinda been assumed around here that it's a pure sealant. Has anyone ever asked FK1 about this, by chance? The way it ages (which was brought to my attention by Bence) makes me think that it does have some nuba to it. Yet the way water blows off the car when hit with a leaf blower makes me think it's 100% sealant. (Sealants tend to form little tiny water droplets when hit with the leaf blower, and they're very resistant to being blown off. Water drops on nubas just simply get the heck out of Dodge when they're hit with the blower).
 
Is that Basque Red Pearl? I haven't seen any 8th gen Accord sedans with such vibrant red. If that's not an aftermarket paint job, mad props to you for making the car look that good :clap:

I just got a bottle of SFX3 and wanted to try it on my daily driver. I did two coats of #885 around Thanksgiving. The car looked great, the Collinite is really nice on this dk red. The metal flake in the pearl paint is nicely accentuated by the Collinite. I select this product mainly for its legendary durability, not necessarily the appearance of the finished product. Much to my surprise, this fresh tin of #885 looked great on the paint and I had no issues removing it unlike previous experience when it was left too long.

On Saturday, I clayed the two driver's side doors, polished with SFX3 (nice on softer paints) and finished up with two layers of #885. I'm trying to leave the rest of the panels alone so I can judge how well the #885 (aka 476S) holds up through our long winter season. So far, it's doing better than I would have guessed. I thought I was getting a lot of bonding to the lower side panels, but found if I washed the car twice that the surfaces were really very clean with almost nothing adhering. When I clayed, only a small amount of junk ended up on the clay bar. The horizontal surfaces still bead quite well. What really surprised me was my "test" of panel slickness. I walked from one end of the car to the other dragging an MF towel along. Of course you expect maximize slickness on freshly done panels, but I was surprised to see that the adjacent (untouched) panels were nearly as slick. To me, this is a reasonable indicator of whether the LSP is still on the job after a few months. As I was saying to Accumulator, I'm likely to stick with the #885 year round and may end up using it on one of the other cars where I'd typical use Klasse or Jeff's WS.

Leaving aside Tom P.'s great photography skill, and also his skill at prep, I think it's kind significant that kopimon just raved about how nice a car looks with Collinite on it.



But as I've posted before, for some reason 476S/885 seems fussy about the polishes used for the prep. Some otherwise fine polishes would very likely have resulted in the Collinite muting Tom P.'s metalflake just like prepping my Yukon with Menzerna 106FF resulted in 476S muting that vehicle's flake. It's kinda weird...and the natural temptation is to blame the wax.

Thanks. The paint work on the car is very nice, but soft.



it is Basque Red Pearl, it looks quite a bit darker in normal light.
 
I cleaned the paint with Meg's Scratch-X 2.0. Then IPA wipedown. Then 885. It was 75-80 degrees when applied.



To me, the beads dont look like they are on a waxed surface. When i used NXT 2.0, the beads were perfect circles. Is this how the beads are supposed to look? I applied it 5 days ago. This was the first rainfall.
