Clutch

Just One More Coat
I just brought a 94 Nissian Sentra XSL that might need a new clutch. I'm going to change the clutch cable to start with because its adjusted all the way out...I hope that is what is wrong.....you have to bury the clutch in order to get it start after that it shifts OK no grinding or slipping that I can hear or feel.

Anyone know how to test a clutch?

Also I cannot find my model on line everyone that I see online are 4 doors and mines a two door.

Sounds like you've found the problem, but is it easy enough to replace?

easy test ... Start the car... Put the car in 4th or 5th gear ... and dump the clutch ... if the car still runs ... You need a clutch ... If the car Stalls You have some time left w/ the current clutch!

Thanks there must be some time left I did this by mistake the other day, so the cable is the answer that I can see.

When I test a clutch, I usualy put it in third run about 2500rpms and then floor it. If it's bad, you'll see the rpms shoot up somewhere in the rpm range. If there's an adjustment, check that before you tear it apart. My brothers WRX slips badly about 3k when the turbo kicks in ( it shoots up 750rpms and floats back down) so I've got to replace the clutch in it. If you've got a good feel for things, you can tell when you let the clutch out too. It's not a very difficult installation but I've never done a FWD car either.
