Clients wanting Zymol

You would have to see if you would have a good demand for Zymol, and explain to your potential customers that there could be a substantial difference in price.

In terms of looks, that of course is subjective. But, make no mistake; As a P21S frequent user, the difference between it and a good zymol is Night and Day. Of course, you do not have to spend the ridiculous amounts that zymol asks for their waxes, and you do not need to use any zymol to adequately produce good detailing results. But the results IMO are substantial. Thus, your customers would also need to evaluate the results so that they could determine if the differences between products makes sense to them.

Yeah, I have been getting a few requests for it. Believe me, if no one had ever mentioned it I wouldn't be worrying about it. About the price difference, yes they would know about it.

FWIW, I have tried Vintage, Royale, Ital, Concours, Glausur, and Titanium....

Vintage- Nice wax, probably my favorite, but not worth the 1% improvement in looks.. In Florida, it lasts about 6 weeks (a little less with out frequent QDing).

Royale- Biggest dissapointment I have ever experienced in a wax. I was kind of buying into the hype, but IMO, Vintage is better in every category...

Ital- Tied with Royale as a huge disappointment. Added nothing to the paint and was a PITA to use.

Glassur- Easier to use then Ital and better looking....

Concours- Okay wax, similar to Souveran but costs way more.

Titanium- Again, IMO, just okay. Looks clean, but didn't really add much to the paint. Smells great and is easier to use for a hand applied wax, but doesn't like to spread as much as some of the others (minus Ital which doesn't spread at all).

The only wax I have really been impressed by out of the Zymol line was Vintage (their best product, IMO) but for 1800 dollars, I would rather have a 50 dollar jar of P21s 100%.

Thanks for the input. Like I was saying earlier I will probably start out with Concours and Glasur. Once I use a bit of these waxes I might move up to the Vintage(God, it just hurts writing that. Its so hard to find 1800 feasible). Which I will charge extra for also so maybe I can move up to the 30K Glaze. LOL RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!!

Thanks again

When do the Zymol waxes/glazes become Estate Glazes? Is it when they break the $100 mark or would Glasur be considered EG? Or are they all considered that?

Yeah I was doing some more researching and found that you have Creme, Carbon, Marque Specific and then you have Estate Glazes.....I think LOL

I was thinking this(and im not trying to justify it either way)....How much have we all spent on LSPs thus far? How much have we spent on glazes as a way to "up" the LSP.

How much will we continue to spend on LSPs over the course of detailing and thats assuming we use up every single one we have(HA, yea right). The only way I could justify spending 1800 on vintage was the support that 1. It would be a premium charge that would sell. 2. There is enough customer support that they would enjoy even just the idea of the 1800 dollar wax on their vehicles and it would be a great look that each customer would love and would notice a difference compared to other LSPs and 3. The refills.

I have banged the idea of purchasing Vintage because of the refills and the great look it has. However I simply don't want to watch my account drain 1800 bucks in one shot for a glass box with some wax despite it being filled up as I need to.

Nope, it doesn't work that way my friend. Correct me if I am wrong superbee(I'm sure you would know) but you can't just get it refilled when you need to. For example if you run out in a month you can't get it refilled monthly. There is a catch to that and I believe its like once a year or something. I don't remember 100% but someone was saying that they(Zymol) believes that this wax should last x amount of months(or whatever) so if you run out before that time frame, your up a creek. Do not quote me on this but from what I remember reading about it, this is how it is.

No I know it doesnt, but I cant see myself using more than a full tub a year anyway, despite regular work. For example Im still using the same tin of #16 from like 3 years ago. And how much of any one paste wax would you use, if you used it on all the cars you saw in a years worth of work??

In all my phone calls back and forth last year with Zymol, I never did bother to ask the specific terms of "free refills for life" on the Vintage. I guess I just never really thought about it, as I knew I wasn't going to be testing their policy; I'm just now needing my first refill a year later.

I have heard of several people getting refills after one month of buying Vintage, and also of some people getting six refills in a year (which, if my math is correct, would be about once every two months.) That's been a while ago, though, and I don't know if they've come out with a more strict policy.

If they suspect that you're using it for paid detail services, and you're not a Zymol authorized detailer.... well, it couldn't be good, for sure. I haven't had the guts to use it on any of my paid client details. It has strictly been for my use only.

I'm going to try and remember to send my cube back this week for a refill. When I talk to Diane prior to shipping it off, I'll specifically ask her what the policy is for max refills in a given period of time.

When I was doing the math to justify the Vintage purchase, I was assuming that I'd need a total of 25 tubs of Vintage during my lifetime. That brings the cost down to 72 bucks per tub, as I paid 1,800 bucks. That's not really too bad of a deal for a high end wax like Vintage. It is also able to be inherited. This is good for a laugh.. someone in my Will will get the Vintage cube handed down to them, as well as the refill rights for that tub for their lifetime. So my son will never need to buy car wax. :D

Ah okay I was mistaken. Thank you for clearing that up for me, it now makes just a bit more sense to pay 1800. LOL. I am very curious to see what its like on paint to see what its all about. I have seen your pics but I'm sure in person its a different level.

So is it with all their EG's that you can't use them on paying customers? I am planning on using Concours on clients cars, is that not a good idea. Damn for all this confusing crap, rules, and cost, I'm going to charge a hell of a lot more if I get this stuff. LOL

As long as you're not using your free refill rights while doing paid details, you're ok. And Concours isn't a lifetime refills wax.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. I would seriously drive to the house of the person on this board who bought that, and punch them in the face. That goes beyond assinine!!!!

You're not going to last long here with that kind of attitude. What people do with their own money is none of your business; remember, "worth it" is completely relative.

ah ok. I was looking at their application to be an authorized detailer and they go as far as looking into your bank account and credit cards. They also say that not everyone gets in which I understand but whats up with the bank account thing? Why should that matter? Maybe I won't go further than Concours.

Yeah, that application is like a job application and mortgage loan application all rolled in to one nasty piece of paperwork.

My quest to be an authorized detailer/distrubutor didn't go much past that. :)

Gotta go with Picus on this one. Threatening physical violence, even if it's in jest, just isn't cool. And like Picus said, it's their money, and they can do with it as they please, and shouldn't have to be accountable to anyone but themselves. Are you gonna go punch out Paris Hilton for her 15,000 dollar doggy sweater? I hope not.

Let's leave the physical threats off the board. Even the "I'm only joking" ones. Violence isn't *ever* funny.

....I'd pick up Concours and charge a premium to use it. You will still get 2-3 months out of it (as opposed to ~4 or so from Vintage), it cleans up well, though it doesn't seem to "repel" quite as well as Vintage (which isn't a bad thing, nothing I've tried yet does), and it looks great. It does take a bit longer to apply/remove than say, Souveran, and of course it costs more - so adding $20 per use to the cost of a detail would be advised, and will more than make up for the cost of the jar and time invested using it.

Bingo! I like $25 extra.;)
