Clearkote Products

I have a 2 week old 2007 Black Lexus IS350 and have been recommended to use Clearkote Vanilla Moose and the Carnuba Wax. From the threads I have read and researched, Clearkote is a very good product and produces great results. One question though, why are they not discussed here as much as other products? Sonus, Meg's, Zaino, Optimum, and many other products are always the topic of discussion.

Being that Clearkote isn't talked about as much makes me a little uneasy I guess.

Thanks in advance for the info. :2thumbs:

I love the Vanilla and the Carnuba Moose. Along with the Red machine moose. I think they are discussed, but many people have jumped on and off the different brands trying to find one that they like the most.

I absolutely love RMG and Quik Shine. Excellent products.

Sealant toppers just suit my needs better, as well as menzerna polishes. Otherwise, I would have no hesitation in purchasing more of their line.

They are talked about far more than Sonus or Meg's, that's for sure. I understand being uneasy, but when some respected members go out of their way to help you, you might take their advice. :)

Thanks guys. I have insecurity issues HAHA! It's just the car is new, so the paint is new and I don't want to do anything in the beginning of its life to ruin it later on down the line.

Appreciate the info guys.

donm3ga,

Don't worry, Clearkote products are great. Don't judge the quality of a product by how much it is "talked" about right now. Product frenzies come and go, and new products are always discussed more than the old. If you do a search for Clearkote products on this forum, you will find more discussions than you will probably be willing to read.

Yeah I did a search for Clearkote before I posted this and I found a lot. Its just when I did a search for the other products, there were far more recent threads on them compared to Clearkote.

Thanks for the information though guys. I am going to go the Clearkote route for now!

As of right now I plan on applying the Clearkote products by hand. With that said, so I apply them via foam or microfiber applicator? What brands do you guys recommend?

There is a local detail specialist that offers this package: ClearKote Killer Combo

Will the MF towels do, along with the MF or foam applicator?

Yes, the foam applicator and mf towels in that package would be fine for now. Once you start using different products from different vendors and such, you will slowly start to gain your own preferences, but everyone has to start somewhere.

I will tell you though, something to think about if you are going to get into detailing is buying a machine polisher. They are worth their weight in gold, and will produce far better results than you could ever achieve by hand.

donm3ga,

IMO, if you are going to apply by hand, then I'd go with foam applicators over the MF. To me, the foam helps to apply a more even, thin coat (important for CMW) and is easier to wash out after you are done.

Any of the Polishin' Pal or oval dual-sided foam pads would be fine. I have both and prefer the Polishin' Pal not only because it is easier to use, but I can easily change out pads and cross use them on my PC.

The word Clearkote isn't usually used when their products are discussed. More often the product names are abbreviated, such as VM, RMG, or CMW.
