Clearkote CMW = no beading?

I just tired this stuff about a week ago. Got the first rain and there is no beading. I have read that the cmw last 2-4 months. I put it on really thin. Is this the problem? I also let it stay on for about 5-10 minutes before removing. Car looks great, but I was expecting some beading.

This is the saddest part about CMW, its basically a low beading lsp.

Beads are not everything, if they dont sheet off you get water marks, but yeah. Its not the best beading product, which is why some people suggest its a low durability product, which is wrong.

Two things you can do:

As part of drying shoot some QD on the surface of the car, it will help reduce marring from the drying towel, disperse water and add shine all in one go. Quickshine from Clearkote should also add some beading!

Purchase something like Stoner Bead Max and spray that on the car after you washed, that should add some beading!

when you say no beading do you mean the water just puddles there or is there a little bit of beading? I have used it with good results. I actually did a personal test with CMW and Auto Magics XP Express Wax and found they both were exactly the same in beading and slickness and longevity. Just half the price.....but thats not what you are asking, don't mind me. Try putting two coats on and see if this helps anything. I apply it and then turn around and take it off, then move to the next panel. Maybe this might help.

CMW has looser beading than most carnauba waxes I use. Not sure why. However, it seems to hold up very well. I recently detailed an Audi TT I had last detailed in July and finished with CMW. The customer specifically requested what I used in July because it was still beading. This is not a car I wash, the owner washed it by hand until the last few months while he was going through a divorce. Durning that time, it was run through the local tunnel wash. To me, that was pretty impressive it held up so well.

Not sure why your application does not bead at all, CMW seems to be fine over pretty much any polish or glaze. Was the car covered in pollen prior to it getting rained on?

No the car had not been washed. It did have some pollen, and some sap like stuff on it (not sap though :nixweiss). After the rain stopped pouring down, it started beading some. Rain was coming down really hard, it might not have had time to bead.

This was put on a car without anything else on it. Just wash little claying then cmw. Maybe the sapish stuff was causing the problem, or maybe I put it on too thin? I used about 4 dime size drops for a hood. This was applied by hand.

The other car that has meg's #26 beads nice. It was covered in pollen too, but no sap stuff.

noob question. If you don't use beading to test durability, how do you know if it still there :nervous:

Hi,

Your durability question, some product "sheet water" so if there are no beads does it mean its gone?

A good way of testing is wash the car so the surface is clean. Take a quality MF and ball it up and then turn against the paintwork.

If it squeeks its likey you have nothing between your MF and the paintwork. Its called the squeak test. :bigups

Pollen and sap accumulation will affect beading. You should get a truer indication of the level of beading after you wash the car and are doing your final rinse.
