Clearcoat peel....

There is a spot on the hood of my beater where the clearcoat has peeled off. Would a buffer and some polish help any? If not, what an I do?

If the clear is peeling off then a buffer and polish is not the answer. It's repaint time.

and have it look horrible then get a can of paint from an auto paint supply store and spray over the bad areas. It will be better, but probably won't match.



I had 2 cars that had this problem, and it was a stop gap measure until I could get the bucks to pay for a real repaint -- the only real solution here.

Watch out, using a buffer on peeling paint can possibly lead to more paint chipping off, as the buffer grabs at it!
