so i worked my bag off on a VW clear with minor results with a PC and M83, then i read more and hear that VW has a CC that is very very difficult. anyway i would like to know what other CC are very hard to work on with a PC, just so i can be prepared if i tackle one, example, i am doing black 00 pathfinder and a 04 Dodge Dakota how are these to work on all relative on condition

From my experiences.......

VW Hard

Audi Hard

Corvette Hard

Mercedes Hard

Honda Soft

Acura Soft

Ford Soft

Nissan Soft

Infinity Soft

Porsche Medium/Soft

Ferrari Medium/Soft

Jaguar Soft

Cadillac Medium/Hard

Subaru Medium

Lexus Soft

BMW Medium

That's about all the one's I can think of that I've actually worked on and know how hard or soft the clears are.

Any single stage paint is soft, any repainted car is a question mark until after you play with it so keep in mind many cars have had parts or panels repainted and may respond differently then the rest of the car.

Not really, but you do with a rotary. You just have to chose your pad and polish according to how hard/soft the paint is. For really soft clears, you might want to consider finishing with Menz FPII or Optimum Polish. For really hard clears, you'd want to go with Menz PO106FF.

definetly dont attempt to work on any mercedes with out the proper polishes.

ive found megs 83 to be a good all around polish for medium to soft clears.

Does it dust like 106ff?

Dodge is in the middle of hard and soft. It's not that bad and I bet you could do the Dakota with what you have. I did a test spot on a Durango with my G110 and Meguiar's DC1 and took about 2 passes to remove all the swirls.

how the hell did you remove swirls with a paint cleaner?

On soft clearcoats I strongly recommend Sonus SFX 2 and 3. These work great without inducing any marring, no dusting and they leave a really nice gloss, LSP ready. Lexus cc is ultra soft, probably the softest cc around, more than any other Japanese vehicle. You can't even sneeze on a Lexus because it swirls.

Any info on Mazdas? I have an 86 and 07, my brother has an 07, and my dad has an 02. :D

Usually average, the '07 will be softer than the '86, but that goes without saying.

Here's the thing though; it not only depends on brand but vehicle, model, and year. It's tough to nail anything down really. I mean, generally if I see a black BMW I know it'll be soft, but that's not 100%. In "general* a Porsche will be easy to work on, soft but not too soft, but again...not always. Black CGT = ouch so soft. So I guess what I am trying to say is it's tough to say.

With a PC I think *in general* the cars you are going to want to watch out for are ceramiclear mercedes, VWs older than 2006, Audi's older then 2006, Corvettes (in general, but mostly C4/C5)... I think that's about it, some other cars might cause problems, but they would likely be anomalies (like my car, for example, it would destroy a PC).

Have you had much experience w/ '07+ VWs and Audis? My 08 R32's clear seems rather hard. I tried an LC Orange (5.5 and 4") w/ Optimum Compound and I didn't seem to be getting good results. I stepped up to a 6" LC Yellow w/ Optimum Compound, and after 2 passes it seemed to work quite well...but I don't know if I'm being too hasty and should try to Orange longer or stick with the Yellow.

Gotta save as much clear as possible ya know??? :D
