Clearcoat cleaning question

2003 clearcoat wheels. Washed with car specific soap weekly, Zainoed and pretty well maintiained. I have some littel smudge like spots like around the valve stem and in some line angles where the spokes meet the outer edge of the rim. I guess it is residual brake dust. When I am washing the wheel, these little areas just don't come clean and are nagging.

Should I take some Dawn and a Q-tip and lightly rub these areas and then go back to some Zaino or some Mother's Clear Coat Polish? These are lot really noticeable, unless you really look close. But, as my wheels are not scratched, I would like them to be perfect, if possible.

Yeah, I'd try the clear coat polish or something similar (a mild paint cleaner like AIO would be my first choice). If you're lucky, the "smudges" around the valve stem won't turn out to be damage from the air-chuck.

Clean that stuff off ASAP, as brake dust can permanently damage wheels in pretty short order. I clean mine with Griot's BHBs- the bristles get into the nooks and crannies. I use the smaller ones (pn 15520) to clean around the rim edges and the valvestems.
