clear coat question

A few years ago I had my car door painted due to a deer incident. I thought I was happy w/ their work but recently I have been paying real close attention to my car and I noticed a small spot at the bottom of my door that looks like the clear coat was never applied there. I am not worried about it cosmetically because you literally have to kneel down by the car and be shining a really bright light on it to see it. Of course I am blaming the body shop, I guess something else could have happened.

Is this just a cosmetic concern? If not, is there an at home remedy to fix it. I am not spending money to take it to a shop.

I had the same type thing on my wife’s 2001 Anniversary Addition Maxima.

She had a Big-Rig lose a retread in front of her going down the interstate (front fender, and hood had to be re-painted).

The dealer’s body shop did a very nice job repairing and repainting, and after about 6 months I noticed a couple of areas on the lower body spoiler trim that were hazy (looked like no clear coat).

This area was not part of the area that was re-painted, and it turned out to be an over spray hazing.

Finished out like new with little effort by hand with some Menzerna Intensive polish followed by FPII.

If you don’t have some Menzerna polishes or equivalent products, you could try a light polish by hand (maybe scratchX or something) to see if it’s an over spray error.

Deer incidents....sigh...that's what spoiled my S8 (cosmetically speaking) :(

If they failed to clear a spot they can/should clear it now. The uncleared basecoat oughta be covered, it's not designed to hold up without clear over top of it. It could become more than a cosmetic issue at some point.

Well the spot is literally the size of my pinky finger nail. Can you buy clear coat in a touch up bottle?
