promised to do my friends car that is in horrible condition but today on a second lookover, besides the rediculous swirling, i noticed a patch about 5inches by 7 inches where the clear was worn away and peeling. i was going to 83 and 80 the whole car with a sonus green but ive never dealt with no clear...what should i do when i get to this spot? can i still polish over a paint without clear?

Realizing that the results will be so-so at best, yeah, just treat it like the rest of the car until he can have it repainted.

alrite cause he jus got the car for less than 2k an im sure it was never cleaned.. it scratched, swirled, and that clear peeling is really a turnoff. dont think he wants or can afford a new paint job. told him id work on it but i dont know if it worth the time

The paint will eventully peel from the rest of the panel. Unfortuntaly only a repray will help. If your friend can strip most of the external trim, this can save a huge amount of money on a repray

If it were me and my 2k car, what the heck, i would get some clear spray paint and some wetsand paper, whats there to loose?

Perhaps even do the whole panel.
