cleansing lotion and sealant

It was raining last weekend, so I never got to clay and wash the car like I planned, but this weekend looks sunny so...

Reading the archives, some people have mentioned that they use a cleansing lotion after claying their car to remove minor oxidation and other contaminates. Is this a necessary step if I am going to be using 3M Imperial Hand Glaze to polish the car (thanks to this site I realized it was a polish and not a glaze)? What will be the real benifit here?

After the polish, I was thinking about sealant so I won't have to worry about damage if I can't get to washing/waxing the car for a bit. What's a good brand I can get in a regular auto store? I've heard Meguiars 20, but I don't know if that's the best. How long will this stuff last if I top it off with Carnuba wax.

I really want to get Klasse AIO and the Sealant, but I gotta use up what I have right now first.

As with most polymer sealants the surface should eb clean and wax/oil free for proper bonding....

IHG is loaded with oils....

What product are you thinking of using?

I guess I'll need suggestions on this. Would a cleaner wax work or do I need just a pure cleaner? If Mothers, Meguiars, or 3M make anything since I can probably find that all at Pep Boys or another local store, but suggestions would be appreciated.

Look at pep boys for the cleaner waxes if you want to clean your paint.....

If you want to remove swirls then look for a Swirl Remover prodcut like 3m and Meguiar's SMR products.

Okay, so the cleaner waxes won't deposit enough wax to prevent the sealant from bronding to the cars surface?

It's a white car, so swirls don't show up much unless you look reallly close.

wax is wax so cleaner wax does leave behind oils and waxes IMO

Now others have used Pinnacle paint cleansing Lotion and then followed with a Zaino or Klasse and said they get good results.

Experiment...there is no correct way to detailing it is an art.
