Cleaning/Protecting Glass

For the exterior glass on my new car, I am planning to clay with the rest of the car during the first wash process and have purchased Stoners Invisible Glass as a cleaner for follow-up washing and cleaning.

But does anyone apply anything else to their exterior glass to keep it clean and protected? Maybe just RainX to assist with sheeting the water during rain? Not sure if there are other products for the glass or not.

I don't like Rain-X for 2 reasons. First, as it wears off, my wipers start chattering quite a bit. Secondly, I don't drive much above 40 most days and at that speed Rain-X really doesn't do much good in my cars.

However I use Liquid Glass on my windshield. It seems to give a nice slick surface when wet. As a result, the wiper blades go across the windshield very smoothly.
 
When I do a window treatment I will.

wash window

AIO window
BSG window

Thanks for the feedback. Most of my driving is on the highway, although I cannot say it is always above 40mph. :(

I guess I was just wondering if there was something similar to the polishes, sealants, waxes used on the paint that can be applied to the glass. If I can keep up with a weekly wash, I guess that shouldn't matter too much.

Ahhh, that is what I was after. I am not using AIO, as I went with the products from 4* (UPC, UPP and UGE) but I was wondering if they could be applied to the glass.

I am not sure what BSG is so I will have to head over to the acronym list to get more information.

BSG- ADAMS BRILLIANCE SPRAY GLAZE

i currently use aio and sg. not so that the water can repel but more so that the wipers work their best as they glide and to make cleaning easier. i too have found rainx to only last 2 weeks. less if u use u're wipers at the same time.

side note: we're expecting heavy rainfall here in s.florida due to hurricane dennis. ill see how sg works out. ill probably add another coat of it after the storms.
 
I just used PB pro-polish on windows with mild water spots and they came you looking great..........Finsihed up with IG and they are as good as new
 
After washing, drying, and finishing up with Stoner's, I'll apply some Poorboy's S&G with a plush MF. Buff it well & you're glass can't look any better.
 
One product I am very surprised that no one has mentioned is Aquapel by PPG. After reading reviews of it at Autopia I bought a kit. It exceeds Rain-X by a great margin and I was able to get enough out of the applicator to do the windshield and front side windows. As it bonds to the glass it really works. My windshield was done in April and it is like it was just put on today.

I don't know why everyone has problems with Rain-X. I have been using it for years and wouldn't drive a vehicle without having the windows done with it. I've done all exterior glass including the mirrors and when washing the car the water just rolls off. The safety factor these products give makes it indispensible. I think the big thing with Rain-X is the glass should be perfectly clean before applying. I have the Klasse twins but I'm not sure if I want to put it on the glass. To each his own and if it works for you, go for it.

I have never heard of this product but will have to do some searching to read some more about it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have used Stoner's Invisible Glass and RainX for years. I'm very satisfied with the result and performance of both products. However the last time I did my windows I used Poorboy's ProPolish,EX-P and Spray and Gloss. Unless I do a side by comparison I can't tell which looked better but the Poorboy's did last longer. Of course all testing and opinions are unscientific.

I have ordered Stoners and was wondering if I could or should apply anything else to the glass to help keep it clean. As of right now, I don't have ProPolish, EX or SG but I do have 4* UPP and UGE and was wondering if I could apply either of those products. Once I get the products, I will have to do some reading and investigating.

My car has quite a bit of glass as the roof on the Scion tC is all glass and the rear hatch is more glass.

Whenever I do a car with UPP. I apply it to the whole car glass and paint alike. I think it's great for glass!

Klasse Sealant glaze

GPI Dura Glaze (aussie product)
Clearkote Chocolate moose wax
Menzerna FMJ

Most of the time I use KSG and UPP followed with a coat of Wolfgang

Quick detailers I use on glass to clean after each wash and add protection
