Cleaning/Polishing Powder Coat Question

I am preparing my dragster for the upcoming race season. My intake manifold is powder coated gray. Over the past couple of years when working on the carburetor, I've occasionally spilled fuel which has purple dye in it that has stained the powder coat on the intake manifold. Does anyone have any tips for cleaning these stains?



Also, my chassis is powder coated candy red. A full fuel jug that had a lot of dirt on the bottom of it was placed on the chassis and slid around a bit causing noticeable scratches in the powder coat. Is powder coat polishable?

I do not think you can polish powder coat in the same way you can polish automotive paint. The stain is probably in the powder coat as well. In both cases, you may be out of luck.

Search for posts by Tssdetailing. He tried to polish powdercoating and found it near impossible to work with.

Aesop F1- Thanks for the link. It looks like I'll be living with the stain. Fortunately it's a small one.
