cleaning motorcycle spoked wheels

I'm going through the process of shining up some neglected spokes on my motorcycle. The rims are all cleaned up, but I'm looking for the most effecient process for spoke detailing that I can find. I've tried several methods that work, but my knuckles pay the price for each and every one of them. Any ideas? The most effective solutions I've tried so far are brushing them with a tooth brush and chrome polish or rubbing each one of them with wadding. The toothbrush method isn't my favorite because it spits polish all over other areas that are already cleaned. The wadding isn't my favorite because I keep whacking my knuckles on this and that. Any other effective ideas, or am I pretty much sticking to the process that works best?

Luster Lace.

Luster Lace Polishes

I haven't tried them but I can't see why they wouldn't work. You just take the Polishing Strips wrap it around the spoke once or twice and pull back and forth to shine. The polish is in the fabric so it is easy and there is no mess. Just take a trip to your local Harley store and they should have it. Since I just bought new wheels for my bike, I just applied a coat of PB Wheel Sealant to them and hopefully they won't need polishing for a while.

Ooooooooooh! I like! Thanks for that. I was just at the harley store pointing out S100 to a friend too. I should have thought about looking there for bike specific cleaning products while I was at it.

Where did you get your wheels at? I've got a bend in my front wheel that I need to get sorted out. If you know of any online sources for wheels then that would be nice to have. :)

Well I have a different type of bike

Sometimes the Harley stores have different products but I've seen them at a few. Others actaully had gallons of Megs #34 and other pro line supplies... and 20 jars of S100 :rockon.

The only places that I can think of off the top of my head are
J&P Cycles - Metric Cruiser Motorcycle exhausts, seats, mirrors, and more
and
DennisKirk - Home page.
I guess there is always E-bay as well. Have you checked into trying to get the wheel fixed instead of replacing? I haven't gone deep into wheels for street bikes but they probably won't be cheap.

When I had spoked wheels, I used an old piece of terry towel and some chrome polish in the same manner as the Luster Lace strips are used. Worked for me.

Budman3: When I was riding dirt bikes, the only time mine ever looked like new was the day it was new. It was a lot of fun, but I was pretty hard on my equipment. (And my body:))
