Cleaning Microfiber cloths

So I tried to use Optimum No Rinse the other day. Car was pretty dirty (winter road grime) so I picked up some new microfiber cloths and went to the task using a double bucket and as many cloths as I felt were needed for the job. When each cloth was done I feared that they would be stained from the grime and not just dirty. Using Griots Microfiber soap I threw all the dirty cloths in the wash... The results were poor. The towels ARE stained, and it would probably take some harsh hand washing to get them anywhere close to yellow/clean again!
What is everyone here doing to not waste towels? Do you re-use them stained? I appears as though most of the dirt is gone, but I am not sure.

As everyone is recommending. Have you tried using the other brand of cleaner's. Chem Guys, Charlie's Soap, Tide Free/Clear+Vinegar, 3D Clean Towels, etc.
I tried Groits once and was not impressed. Everyone will give you their opinion, the final decision will be yours. Good Luck.

I'm always interested to hear how some people do so well with Charlie's. I had high hopes for the stuff, bought two gallons of it. Utterly mediocre performance for me, if even that. Not even very good for normal laundry. Total FAIL. But I do believe you folks who like it, just one of those "YMMV" things.

Like many other products that work for some of us but fail for others. I can attest that LA's Totally Awesome @ $3.99 gallon works twice as well as Amazing Roll Off @ $30.00 gallon. Utter fail for me and a few others will tell you the same.

Mr. Gloss- That's why, IMO, it pays for people to report how stuff works for them, even if it runs counter to what others have experienced.

Problem is that it gets crazy expensive! All I'm trying to do is clean some towels! How can so many products fail at something so elementary?

I have a 5 gallon bucket filled with a water and APC mix. When I I am done with a towel I throw it in the bucket and let it soak. Before throwing them in the wash I rinse them a couple times and then throw them in the wash with a MF cleaner (I use Chem Guys). They come out clean.

What's an APC?

You came to the right place. You can learn from our mistakes.
Once you find something that works, you work with it. There are alot of opinions.
Water conditions in various areas make products work diff. Many will premix with distilled water.
There is also the samples link. Free Car Care Samples
Didn't see any microfiber cleaning products being offered. Thanks for the link anyway.

bsibaja- APC = All Purpose Cleaner

If you only want to try one product, I'd recommend Micro Restore. It's kinda the "industry standard" for MF-specific detergents. It works the best for me, zero idea why as I'd expect all such products to be basically similar. The Chemical Guys version doesn't work as well *for me* but it's often on sale and I do use it.

Others do fine with regular detergent. I guess you might try a presoak/pretreat with APC first and see what kind of difference that makes.

I pretreat with APC and brush any stained spots. Let 'em sit for hours pretreated. Then launder in MF-detergent on the hottest settings doing a "prewash" or "presoak" cycle before the regular one and then multiple rinses, with the penultimate rinse containing vinegar.

The fruits of my trip to the dollar store in Delaware...!
Surprisingly they had the stuff and everything is one dollar. Incredible!!!
I will try all 3 products in several ways and report my results. Wish me luck... If this does the job it is a NO BRAINER! $3!!!! Total!!!!

Some people might say that if you got a MF towel THAT dirty, you pushed the limit of an ONR wash.

Indeed. That is what I am realizing. This is not a real "wash" for a real "dirty car".

Cleaning power seems limited in ONR unable to remove a lot of dirt from the rocker panels.

Then wheels would also leave a tremendously dirty towel, and the ONR may not be able to remove all impurities.

ONR so far seems to be a good option for touching up a "dusty" car once or twice a week. But seeing the amount of dirt that can be removed from a fairly dirty car, I don't think I can use ONR with MFs again like I did. Wheels need a proper wash. And so does the car when its been driven for a week in winter muck.

And why even bother with No Rinse washes (specially in winter conditions). Might as well move up to "Waterless" spray cleaners... Anybody agree?

I used rinseless all summer and fall as I find it works great and I love the fact I can do it right in the garage. But..once winter comes and I have to deal with the heavy road salt layers and other types of build up, I have to finally say "uncle" and pull out the hose.

I've used chemical guys microfiber wash. Honestly I can't tell any difference between it and regular laundry detergent. We use tide he. I also toss my microfibers in a bucket and let them soak as I'm working.

I used CG's MF Soap and it just sucked. Sorry to be blunt. However, any of the PBMG house brand MF soaps are great. I'm currently working through a gallon of DP. I do find they work better than Tide or whatever - and the towels just seem to come out "nicer".
