cleaning applicator and towels

Hey, I just bought Sonus der wunder applicator, handigrip foam applicator, and some sonus der wunder polishing/buffing towel. I was wondering what is the correct way in washing these. I use to wash my microfibre towels in the laundry machine, but it pretty much destroyed them as time went by. I am assuming you guys hand wash them? Thanks

Mike

I put mine in a mesh laundry bag and drop them in the washer. The landry bag keeps them from getting distroyed by the agitator.

While this doesn't answer your immediate question ... when the time comes to replace your washer...think front loader. Ours never destroys anything and does a fantastic job.

If you meant that your MF's got crusty...and I credit this to what I learned here on the board... add 1 tbsp vinegar per towel to the softner dispenser. You'll be amazed at how well it works and how soft your towels become. The vinegar breaks down the detergents and your towels regain their softness.

Also..use about half the detergent you think you should.

I think what you use to wash them with is most important. Any kind of bleech or fabric softener is death to MF and probably not much better for foam pads. I think most laundry detergents probably have some sort of bleech in them even though they say not. Woolite may be safe. I have used both Sonus Der Wunder Wasche and Micro-Restore on both my MF towels and foam pads and they are very good. I usually wash them by hand and just wring out the MF and put them in the washer with Woolite and a vinegar rinse. The foam pads I rinse real well and run them through my wringer to dry. I have a front-loading washer so that is much easier on my towels than the agitator type. I could probably just put the Sonus and MR in the washer, but I'm being Cautious as it cost a lot.:D

Mine I just wash with sonus der wunder wash and put it handwash, no problems, think im going to use DavidB's idea and get a mesh bag.

HEY do any your wives complain about using the washing machine to clean your towels mine came back too early yesterday and caught me washing them. BOY DID SHE HAVE A FIT.

Don't want to clog the forums with another thread on basically the same thing so I hope you don't mind me posting my question in here.

I have a bunch of MF towes and PC pads that have been sitting unwashed for 5-6 months. They are full of pollish and wax. I normally hand wash them with liquid Tide and my question is should i do anything different sence they have been sitting for so long with cakes on product?

I've sprayed my foam pads with an APC right after I use them, especially with Menzerna FP, it bleeds the polish out of the foam before it has time to set but it may also free dried up,caked on polish/wax as well, maybe give that as shot

On the PC pads I would run a soft brush over them at low speed first to remove the dried on product.

The MF's I would let soak for a while first, then wring them out, rinse and wash again. Make sure to rinse them very well, you may have to repeat and possibly spot treat some areas if needed.

They may also come out better if you machine wash after letting them soak and rinse. Remember liquid detergent only, no bleach or fabric softener, and some vinegar in the rinse (run at least two rinse cycles). You may also want to try a detergent made for MF's like Micro-Restore, etc. It's a tad pricey, but compared to what we have spent on MF's it's well worth the extra $$$.
