cleaning a chamois and scotchguard question

2 questions here if you don't mind....

1-how do you go about cleaning a chamois? Wash it in a machine just like clothing or what?

2-how is scotchgard for protecting carpeting and making it clean easier?

Looks like this one fell through the cracks.
Sorry about that.
Years ago, I used a leather chamois, but with the much better products available today, I don't use one anymore.
As I remember, we just hand rinsed them good in warm water. No soap at all.

An artifical chamois such as "The Absorber" can be hand washed in a Dawn and water solution with no apparent problems.

My absorber gets very little use since the advent of MF towels.
Easier to use and IMO, better for your paint.

I think Scotchguard does a pretty good job at helping to resist spills and stains.
I happen to use 303 Fabric Guard and have been happy with the results. One thing, though. My vehicles don't get the abuse that some receive, so protection isn't all that tough.
