cleaning a car duster??

Hey all,

I have a Griot's car duster and I have used it to the point where now it actually creates streaks on the vehicle. I stopped immediately and used a QD to clean it but this leaves me no dusting option.

How do I clean the duster so it can be useful?

thanks all!

Some car dusters are not meant to be cleaned. The paraffin coating will be damaged/removed by washing. You might be able to wash it with a cold, mild soapy solution. My OXO duster came with instructions on washing it, but they're out in the garage somewhere. But I think some manufacturers advise against washing their dusters.

They all have a special paraffin coating on the fibers and heat of any kind will melt and destroy the cleaning ability of the fibers so keeping this in mind, washing is done carefully in cool water with a very mind cleaner.

The actual instructions I read earlier this evening stated cool water and woolite. No hot water, no hot air drying, nothing hot.

So follow common sense rules and all will be fine.

Shake the beejeebers out of it first.

Then a cool h20 wash with gentle woolite.

Rinse with cool water.

Air dry.

It never needs washing UNLESS you should drop it. Then you simply remove the mophead from the handle and wash it in a mixture of 1 cap of Woolite and about 2 gallons of cool water. Let it air dry. It will be good as new.

I have been using CA dusters for about 12 years now. I only use it to wipe dust off -duh. I would never use it after a sprinkle. That type of dirt is different.
