cleaner wax with the pc?

so if you have some left over cleaner wax like mothers, zymol or mirror glaze - but you dont want to throw it away - if you went to apply it with a portercable - which pad would you use.



I use new proudcts on my vehicles, many of which were purchased with advice from people on this forum. :usa but if im gonna do a quickie on a friends "less than ideal" finish on a beater or dd that dosent have a lot of money do drop but wants to bring a little shine back and add some mild protection - these products work fairly well for one step - so i wonder what would happen if i tried them with the pc?

Give it a shot, I would just use any pad that isn't too aggressive.



I use cleaner wax in places like door jambs and under the hood instead of using the nicer stuff

Excellent idea...in addition, I use cleaner wax for my clear-coated wheels...aids in removing unsettled brake dust stains and leaves some nice protection. Also, there is nothing wrong with using a cleaner wax as a base for a pure wax - I use ColorX to prep the surface of my parent's car and then follow it up with 1 or 2 layers of #16.
 
I use Meg's ColorX via PC all the time, on old beaters. It really helps to remove all that contamination, and dead paint before polishing steps. It helps to keep your pads from gumming up as fast. Not to mention, if there is anything that could potentially come lose, get caught under your pad and mar, I'd much rather it do that during the PAINT CLEANING, then I would during polishing, while I'm trying to remove scratches.



IMO a cleaner wax via PC, is a really good one step. Really good for the people who arent willing to shell out a lotta cash.
 
I use Megs #6 at a low speed with a polishing pad. I found that it would cake up with a mild cutting pad at high speeds. #6 and #66 are very good one steppers.
 
I have Meguiars #66 which I use on a meguiars W8006 polishing pad by PC for very fast details, it also has a mild amount of cut to it too so I find it ideal for quick details and getting some paint protection too.



Also, Autoglym Super Resin polish is excellent when used on the PC I find - on a polishing pad, seems to take the product to a different level than when applied by hand and its also a one step cleaner/polish/filler/sealent. Ideal for a quickie.

What sort of speed on the PC do you recommend with the SRP? im a big fan of SRP, and just got my PC, so im looking to figure out how best to apply it by machine.

The blue Sonus pads are ideal for cleaner waxes. Soft enough to finish off, yet with just a little bit of firmness required for cleaning.

Polishing pad (Meguiars W8006), spread it around on speed 1 and work it for several passes, light to medium pressure on speed 4. Works a treat. :)
 
The SRP must not be too picky about what speed you use, it works great via Cyclo, which is more than I can say about Klasse AIO (which requires a less aggressive machine).
