cleaner and SSR

Hey all,
It's been awhile since I have visited, feels good to be back. My friend has a Nissan that is showing signs of oxidation and has some clearcoat failure at ding points. I want to help her out and get her car ready for winter. I plan on washing, claying, washing again. Now comes the question: would it be better to use a paint cleaner before or after the SSR? I think the cleaner should come first, but I want to have some other feedback from others more knowledgeable.

I also think the cleaner should come first...though I'm not sure it would be necessary since you are using SSRs?
 
I generaly go with the SSR's first, this way I know that I am dealing with a nice clean surface and I don't have to worry about any dusting that might occur.

The only way that I would use a paint cleaner first if there is a bunch of oxidation. This way I could get the paint clean and not have my pads gum up with oxidation when I'm using swirl removers.
 
I agree with the above post. I would only use the paint cleaner if there is a great deal of oxidation. If the oxidation is minimal then just use the ssr's

I just did a full detail today( 5 hours). Washed, clayed, SSR1, polish, and wax. The clay-Bar and SSR1 did a great job at prepping the surface. Plus you spend a lot of time on the SSR's to work them in it's over-kill unless you have a oxidation problem.
