Cleaned the wheels inside and out

Man this thing too a long time.



Since I live in an apartment, I had to transport the wheels one by one(sometimes two) to the car wash place to scrub those suckers clean.



The process on the wheels was:



- wash with a brush and Meguiars Hot Rims

- Clean with Meguiars Detailing Clay (white, which I had for years now and threw out after it was doen with wheels)

- Clean with Mothers Cleaner Wax (which came with the Mothers Clay Bar)

The cleaner wax removed some of the things the clay bar left over. I dont know if it is a Meguiars deal, or if some spots were just too far in, but the cleaner wax removed it.



- Klasse AIO 3 coats

quite an improvement. i too have the BBS RCs and love them on the car. however, cleaning, :wall

what's the finish called on those? is it polished?



looks good, what's the car they go on?
 
Wheels look hot. I wanted BBS RC on my 03 gti but i went with long beaches.



Next time dont let the wheels get that dirty. When i was my car i sometimes wipe in the inside with a sponge. It scratches my hand a little bit from the rotors but i wont have to spend hours cleaning the wheels when its time for deep cleaning them.

Everytime I wash my vehicles, I wash the wheels. Here's a good tip. My G/F bought me a few of those sponge dish mops. Ya know, for doin' dishes? they have a handle and are a buck at the dollar store.



Anyhow, I use one of those to reach passed the spokes and do the backs of the wheels everytime I wash. I never have a big build-up of dirt or the like.
 
Thanks for all the compliments. The wheels are ball peened and then clearcoated. It is probably one of the best finishes around.



They go on a VW GTI. They came stock with the car since it was a limited edition GTI 337 (European 25th Anniversary).



I will try those household sponges. It has been pretty hard keeping up with the washing, since apartment life is not easy for car washing.



I cant wait to move in on June.



I usually keep up the outside, but the inside is the tough problem. I will use that sponge with the handle.

This is old Zaino topped with Natty's Blue.



Natty's Blue brings out the flakes really nice. Can't see it here though.

Have you had any clearcoat issues with those? I know many people did with the ballpeened finish.

Megs has a nice wheel brush, that is just long enough to reach through and keep the backsides clean. It has yellow bristles. It works pretty good for me (I have the GLI RC's) I preclean mine with soap and water, then TW Bug and Tar. Then seal them with wheelwax and lastly FMJ. Lasts for a while. After they are sealed, I just use soap and water. I also don't have as bad brakedust as you since my brakes are tiny :cry:



BTW, I also live at an Apartment. It is hard to keep up on cleaning them but well worth it.
 
There were a couple of white spots (corrosion issue) even on mine. Nothing that is really major. I think if you keep up with the wheels it doesnt form as fast.



I think the issue was that stuff somehow got underneath the clearcoat and then it starts turning white.



I ll see if I can take pics of my wheel where the issue apeared.
 
Actually you can see them on the before and after pics. They are in the after section and whatever spots you see are the white ones. Just a couple of them. Autopian's should be able to pick it out. haha
