clean wheels first or last?

I clean the wheel first. I want to make sure they are clean first. Also if for whatever reason some of the wheel cleaner gets on the paint (donsent happen alot) then I can wash the car and not have to worry that there is any resodue.

And the big reason is it is just habbit at this point

Wheels first because you can get overspray of dirt onto the car. Unless you are doing QEW/ ONR in which case last since the washing will presoak the dirt on the wheels and there isn't any risk of dirt splash.

I wash wheels/tires/wheelwells first.. same as above, if any overspray gets on the paint the car wash is next anyways. in addition, when you rinse off the wheels with hose, waterspray gets on the car, which might ordinarily be dry by the time you get to wheels last.

wheel wells first, then tires, then wheels....why do it the other way around when the run off from rinsing has to run over the clean parts....now obviously washing the car's paint is a little different because you are not washing HEAVY break dust and road grime off the paint like you are from the wheel areas....and dress them at the end...dry polish dust doesnt belong sticking to the frshly dressed tires and wells..

I'm the odd duck. I've always done the wheels last figuring they were the dirtiest part of the car and I didn't want to use that dirty mitt on the paint. Now that I've found Autopia and take better care of my car I've still been doing them last, but I use my old mitt instead of the good one. Just hard to break a habit I guess.:p

I like to do the wheelwells, then tire, then the wheel and then along the bottom of the frame from bumper to bumper. This will get most of the worst dirt off, but I also use the two bucket system. :getdown

Wheel wells

Tires

Wheels

Finish and follow with a quick hose down of those 3 areas again.

When I wash the car I shoot the tires and wheels with my foam gun, allow to dribble around and rinse when I rinse the car.
