Claying

While,I just clayed my car,2002 Maxima, for the first time ever. I don,t know if I should be pleased or disappointed. Very little contaminants came off the car, seems very smooth, but then, it always did. The car has been waxed and washed very regularly since new. I know the clay bar is supposed to remove contaminants etc.from the atmosphere. Is it possible that the car was that clean, where it has always been kept clean and waxed with multiple coats, plus the fact I live in Nova Scotia Canada, and there is very little pollution here anyway? And yes, I carefully clayed the entire car with lots of enclosed lubricant " mothers kit".

Anyway, am I just blessed or am I missing something in my technique?

I guess you always check it with the plastic bag test.

But I'd just consider it good luck. Or maybe good maintenance.

I clayed for the first time after 9 months I bought the car, and had the same results as you, I clayed again 1 year later and did find some dirt on the clay but nothing big but I still had a good feeling since it took off dirt I didn't see. After that I cleaned and waxed the paint.. I hand wash it every week so I think good maintenance is part of the reason, the contaminants do not have enough time to bond to the paint.
