Claying

OK. I promise Not to deluge the forum, my last question for the day.

I have purchased Wolfgang Clay bar and lube. In doing further research it appears though excellent clay, it's not really clay but I guess a poly bar. Which is harder than a leading clay bar. My understanding is though it's an excellent cleaner may be more prone to scratch due to it's firm nature. This may or may not be true. Since I'm coming upto speed on all of this, being a novice should I use a softer clay bar first to learn the procedure or am I safe going ahead with he Wolfgang Poly bar. This is a new car I will be executing on so.

You should be able to use it just fine. Remember to fold it over often and if you ever drop it on the floor, throw it away. To avoid waste from the accidental drop, I like to cut my clay bar into thirds.
 
:yeah I agree with what they both said. "Clay" is kind of a misnomer, they are really 'poly bars' as you discovered.

As long as you use it properly: Plenty of lube, don't roll it in sand, and fold the bar over to keep a clean side showing, then any minor marring will be easily removed with a light polish. Which is the next step anyway.
 
You can be sure you will get marring as well. It really is unavoidable. Just try and minimize it and remove it when your done.
