If you look up whats in clay, I dont think hot water will really affect it. Just my .02 from working with clay for15 yrs.

Me neither. Clay more than likely will be effected by using the incorrect lube if anything, not water. Most quality lubes are water based anyways. The ones that are loaded with a bunch of solvents and/or heavy silicones are most likely the culpret for damage.
