Clay replacement - Problems???

TroyScherer

Ummm.... Ya.....

For anyone that has used any of the new clay bar replacement towel / pad.

Have you used clay afterwards to make sure you really removed all of the contamination? I have been hearing that some have tested with clay after doing decon using these products and have still gotten quite a bit of contamination in the clay... Thoughts?

I've gotten a little, but nothing too major where I was concerned, and I would blame it first on how thorough I really was. I feel with the towel, I am not as thorough because the "feel" is not full there like it is with clay. Clay is smaller, therefore more concentrated.

However, I've used it may of times on a lot of cars and have never had an issue polishing a car out. IMO, there's a diminishing return with claying and I don't spend hours trying to get everything out like some do. Next time I do a bad car I'll do a video test on it to see.

I have with paint overspray. Regular clay works a lot better and faster. On the more typical contamination we get around here, nano skin and eraser pads work pretty well.

I guess I am just wondering if everyone has tested this for themselves or if they are simply blindly following the newest thing? I have held off on these simply because they have yet to be proven to be better than clay over an extended period of time...
