Clay Problem

Ok, everything finally came together and I got a perfect day to work on the car. After a Dawn wash I polished some touch up areas I painted last weekend and did a little buffing before starting the Zaino routine.



The Proshine rechargable buffer is the first buffer I've ever used. On the one hand my lack of experience makes it hard to compare to other units, on the other hand I got excellent results with no prior experience.



There are 2 battery packs. By the time the second one ran out I had buffed the panel where I did the touch up and also buffed all horizontal surfaces (hood, top and trunk). If I had really wanted to do the side panels I could have used the cigarette lighter power cord, but I didn't want to do that and the side panels were ok anyway.



This buffer is not designed for heavy duty use, but it is comfortable to hold and seems ideal for light use. The Porter Cable unit is probably much better, but for those of us with no convenient power supply this buffer fills a niche. I give it a "thumbs up".

I clayed my truck today and opened a new peice of PB Clay. With in 2 pannels the clay got very soft and spongy and then it was like oatmeal? I had to stop using it. I took another peice from the same pack and it was fince the rest of the detail. here are picks at the end. I sat them in my gloves for the picture.

Weird. Any Ideas as to what happened.

I have never seen anything like that happen with clay. Where did you get it from? I would put in a call to see if they will replace it for you.

Never heard of it, but definitely ask for a refund with those pics as proof (or a link to your post :biggrin:)

For clay lube I used the Poorboys Super Slick and Suds 1 oz to 32 oz water. I have done this before with this and other clay with no issues. I also finished 80% of this detail with another new peice of the PB clay from the same camister no issues. The more I think about it, and how fast is degraded, it had to be a defective peice of caly. I posted on the PB board and will see if Steve has any ideas.
