Clay possible smearing?

Dont know what to really call it but I belive the culpriate is the clay. I might not of used enough lube (NXT and water) but how do I get it out? I rewashed the vehicle and polished with SSR2.5 and it still was there.

If it didnt come off with 2.5, I doubt its clay.......sounds like a definite stain of some sort. Try some 3M tar/adhesive remover......

Probably not enough soap solution. Actually, I permanently switched back to a QD only with clay; just works much better for me. Try something like the alcohol mix or Prepsol type solvent to get it off.

If it's what I'm thinking of, you can only get it off with more clay and you are right about not enough lube and too much pressure. Try to let the clay *glide* across the surface don't rub it.

What would be a good ration soap to water? QD is out of the question, just not cost effective enough. I went through two 32oz bottles of my stuff on my tahoe

something that has never let me down was a good squirt (i dont do the drops thing :p) of car wash soap into a spray bottle, shake and use...works great:up...or if you want the ultimate, clay as youre washing the car, after going over a panel dont hose off right away, clay it right then, then go on with the hosing:D

FWIW, I don't find the soap:water ration all that important. You want enough soap to provide good lubrication but I don't believe it calls for precise measurement. I just do it by eye; I know how it looks when I have enough soap in there. If in doubt, I'd err on the side of more soap.

I'd say my approach is pretty similar to that described by LT1Squirrel, both in how I mix it up and how I usually clay. Though I often do another quick wash after claying, instead of just a rinse.

1 capful of his Z-7 Car Wash in a 16oz spray bottle for clay lube.

That's a good ROT and you can always adjust it higher if need be, i.e. 2 capfuls.
