Clay battle...

Alright, I know this is pretty repetitive for some of you, but I have been using the MOther's Clay and I'm quite satisfy with using it. However, I am deciding now if I should get the Pinnacle clay bar. I believe the Pinnacle product costs more?



I want to purchase a clay bar again and I'm wondering how you guys compare the two bars I mentioned above. Should I spend that extra amount to get Pinnacle or save and get mothers?

Dollar for dollar I love the Clay magic.

I heard many good things about Clay Magic and how it can be purcahsed at Autozone?



Can i purchase clay magic on somewhere online and trustworthy?
 
I have used both the Meguiar's consumer clay and Mother's clay, and prefer the Mothers. The Meguiar's clay is easier to knead and seems softer to the paint... but use a ton of lube or else it will streak like crazy.

Mothers clay doesn't streak at all. :up

Mothers and Pinnacle clay's are very similar.....I doubt you will see much difference/advantage from one over the other. CLay magic is not the "poly clay" type and is a bit different. If you are looking for something different to try, I would try that.......
 
Poly-Clay:



Basically, these types of clays are also known as synthetics which are made from different polymers (Hence the poly). The advantage to these clays is that they are less likely to dry out but a lot of them are VERY difficult to knead and form into useable shapes (I had the Mothers and ran into that problem quite frequently).





The Non-Polys are actually natural clays. These are much easier to knead and are just as effective in removing the bonded contaminants as the poly clays.
 
Okay, so i checked out some website that sells claymagic. However it only comes in the container of a big chunk of clay.



Do I still have to purchase a lubricant as well? Cuz I think you can't just run the clay on the car without the liquid lubricant right?
 
You need a lube.



Try a carwash and water solution in a spray bottle it works great. But Quick detailers will work too.

How do you guys store your clay bars?



Can I saran wrap it and then place it in a margarine container?



Does temperature come into play as well?
 
The colder it is the harder it is to use and knead the clay. The clays i use come in little cases to store them in, but saran wrap would be ok to use.
 
Use a zip lock baggie as the saran wrap may unstick and allow crap to settle on the clay.



most clays come with some sort of conatiner. Mothers is the only one I know of that does not come with a container.

... a hole punched through it. Loop the hole over the top of the QD sprayer you use with it so they stay together. It's easier to find in the growing collection of car care products. :D

Make sure you spray some QD inside of the plastic bag seran wrap or whatever you put the clay in. If you don't, the clay will stick to the bag and be a real pain to get off.
 
Just my own choice, but I have found that an 8 to 1 ratio of auto shampoo to water makes a pretty darn good clay lube. Enjoy!
