I was at the largest alberta carshow this weekend, and saw something beyond amazing. A chromed C6Corvette. I couldnt find the owner to talk to, but I had a few people from the car club asking me how I would go about detailing that....lord knows it would be a PAIN! So, I ask you all the same question....what would you do with such a paint.:hmmm:

My first thing would be talk to the people that supplied the paint.
It most likely has some clear on it and a good polish and LSP is probably all it needs to keep it looking good.

I have only seen pictures of "Chrome" cars and they didn't really appeal to me.
On a Corvette, I would probably just strip it and shoot come bright red basecoat/clearcoat on it. :D

It was odd, I've seen a chromed Vanquish before my by parents place in phoenix, and it looked alright. THis really suited the car, it was almost subtle but SO shiney....I actually liked it a lot.

House of color has a paint called Kosmic Krome and if done right by a painter that knows what he is doing, The finished product will look like somebody chrome plated the car. Its done over a back base coat and clear sprayed on top of that. So in the instance I would treat it just like any other detail.:rockon

Chances are that it's just a highly polished aluminum finish with a clear coat over it. If I had a weekend with it, I'd take the challenge of detailing it.

I would give it a go at detaling it....I would think a sunny day would probably blind you...at least that would hide any swirl marks.

As far as the finish I would pass...although I do remember seeing a picture of some Middle Eastern prince or someone like that who I think had an Audi if I remember and it was chromed...

It was an Audi A8 modified by MTM. The metal areas were polished and cleared aluminum and the plastic areas were enameled and cleared to achieve a chrome effect. It was for a Shiek in Dubai.
