Chrome hubcaps... any products that help these things?

I don't know what it is about these, but i'm cleaning up my Aunt's car for her. It has literally taken me 2 hours to do ONE wheel, i'm just using turtle wax on them with a MF towel and my finger... which feels like the nail is ready to come off... I just have to rub and rub the area to get all of the black off of it.



When I washed the car all I had was Armor all wheel and tire cleaner which did nothing to remove the brake dust at all. I don't have time to order and Sonox or anything... is there ANYTHING over OTC that actually cuts this stuff off any better than this?

I am unclear but is the brake dust on chrome or alloy or painted wheels? In any case, I would use an abrasive just as you would any paint imperfection for baked on brake dust. Or chrome polish if the wheels are chrome. You just have to wear away the brake dust material. There isn't any easy way to do it that I have found.

I thought about using Menzerna's Final polish to have a little bit more abrasive on it. I don't know... it just seems very fragile ... more so than when it's over metal. I don't think it's the same stuff as when it's on metal since I don't think plastic can be dipped. I know it's not NEARLY as easy to work with as chrome wheels.

If it is chrome you can use a APC (ALL purpose cleaner) found at Dollar General or Walmart ... I would dilute it to 4 parts water to 1 part APC. Then folish up after cleaning with some type of sealant....
