This morning I got a chip in the windshield about the size of a pen tip. Any one know how to fix this type of thing or how much a body shop would charge? I can't even eat today!! I'll try to get a few good pics when I get home. :angry :shocked :angry

Some insurance policies will pay to have this repaired at not charge to you, not even a claim. You might want to check. If not, just look in your local telephone guide for windshield repair. Most of them will come to you.

I rather have a small chip on my windshield than my paint.

Yeah, call around and they come to you for repair, but I would first try your insurance company as stated above ^

Speaking of which, I was driving down a rural road 2 days ago when a semi coming the opposite way kicked up a rock that scared the heck out of me when it slammed into my windshield. I thought "Whew", at least it wasn't the paint. Nope. Got home and there was an actual dent about a foot from the windshield where the rock struck the hood, gashing the paint AND THE METAL :angry in two 1/2 inch spots before it struck the windshield. Fricking aggravating. :angry

It is actually not up to the insurance company. It is up to the state that you live in. Many states REQUIRE that insurance companies fix a windshield free of charge. About half of the states are like this. Contact your insurance company to find out. No deductible is required and your rate will not increase.

This is exactly right, I now SC requires a free replacement from the insurance company.

Damn.. that sucks. Sorry to hear. I hava a few rock chips on my windshield, but it's no biggie where I can see it and it's in plain view when I'm driving. Damn all the construction work!

Good thing I invested on a clearbra for my car.

My state (Missouri) doesn't require it, but an option in my policy with MetLife includes this coverage.

Is there somewhere I can find the information for state laws on windshield repair?
